The result of the proposal was Moved to Games People Play (Spinners song). kotra provides good evidence for WP:COMMONNAME and official blessing of it. DMacks (talk) 08:37, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They Just Can't Stop It the (Games People Play)They Just Can't Stop It (The Games People Play) — Pretty obvious that the the should be inside the parentheses. If there's any doubt, AMG link supports that version of the title. Person who moves page should hopefully edit link at Games People Play to accord. --76.121.3.11 (talk) 06:00, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It seems that "the games people play" is not an alternative title but an explanation of what the pronoun "it" means. The remaining question is: "Do we continue the song's publisher's bad punctuation?". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:42, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add to the confusion, the Songfacts external link uses a third version: "(They Just Can't Stop It The) Games People Play". And it also provides further explanation of the weird name:

The first pressings of this song were issued as simply "Games People Play," but the title was changed to avoid confusion with the song of the same name by Joe South. The awkward title ensured that publishing royalties wouldn't be misappropriated to South's song.

Google results are a mishmash of all three (plus ones without "the" at all). But by far the most results appear to be just "Games People Play", which is also the title of choice on the band's official website. So I would recommend Games People Play (Spinners song). -kotra (talk) 01:42, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
