I'm new at this, but after correcting this article to reflect that the song "Galway Girl" is indeed not on the "P.S. I Love You" Soundtrack, my edits were reversed.

Galway Girl (Steve Earle song) → Galway Girl –
Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Disambiguation pages#Disambiguation pages with only two entries. There's no evidence that the recent pop song is as notable as the Steve Earle song, one of the most popular songs in Irish history. This page was moved from Galway Girl just a week ago without any discussion, and I believe it should be moved back to the original title. We should assume that this page is the primary topic for the immediate future, and only turn Galway Girl back into a disambiguation page if the recent pop song ends up clearly challenging this song's position as the primary topic. Oppose, my main reason to oppose is that you give no evidence of a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC evidence in a WP:TWODABS situation, other that "one is older than the other". Previous pageviews are not that high for a non-disambiguated title, and since Sheeran's song was released pageviews increased significantly--doesn't mean we have to move his page instead. Oppose Galway Girl seems to be a popular title and is pretty generic (a girl from Galway). There may be even more works by this title. The Ed Sheeran Song has already reached high notability as stated by others above. I think the current situation is as described in WP:TWODABS (as stated above), so I oppose the change. Comment only. I'll challenge a few of the oppose votes; we disambiguate only among topics actively covered on Wikipedia, and no article covers "girls from Galway". Additionally, this really is a WP:TWODABS situation: so-called third use, the play A Galway Girl has a title that's different in WP:SMALLDETAILS. Finally, the Steve Earle song likely has greater long-term significance: it has been covered literally dozens of times despite only being 17 years old,[1] and the Mundy cover was a major hit in Ireland. That said, the Sheeran song also has significance as a hit song in multiple countries by a major musician, and is clearly what most readers are searching for, at least now at the time of its release.[2] As such it mounts a legitimate challenge to the Steve Earle song's primary topic status. Perhaps we should revisit a few years down the road and see how things shake out then. I imagine that in the long term the Steve Earle song will continue to be the "Galway Girl", but we can't make titling decisions based on future conjecture.--Cúchullain ^t/c 15:30, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- It appears that the Steve Earle song is better known by its original title, "The Galway Girl" (cf. [3],[4]); even the Mundy version is often called "The Galway Girl" interchangeably.[5][6][7] Neither of the other "Galway Girl" topics use "The".   - I dont' quite get your point, as you are contradicting yourself. The significance of the Steve Earle song is not in question. However you emphasise the situalion in Ireland and just merely mention the international improtance of Ed Sheeran. His song is already an international hit and still "up and running". As you said yourself, we cannot look into the future, but in my opinion your comment and your changes to Galway Girl disregard the fact that the english Wikipedia shoud not only cover the Irish or West European situation but also serve as an international reference. Just a brief look at YouTube comments reveals that there are people in the world who have no idea whatsoever what "Galway" or "Galway Girl" means (sometimes they state really wild assumptions about the meaning of "Galway Girl"). Furthermore a leading "A" or "The" bares no (or at least not enough) signinificance to distinguish articles, they are just Stop words . The "core" Topic is still "Galway Girl". My comment is meant to challenge some opposing arguments, especially the claim that we should take into account "girl from Galway" as an ambiguous topic, even though it isn't covered on Wikipedia. Arguments like this sometimes come up in move discussions, but there's never been a site-wide consensus or policy supporting it; we disambiguate only topics that are covered. That said, I can't support the move due to the fact that the Sheeran song has also become prominent and challenges the Earle song as primary topic (hence my lack of a supporting vote). My edits to the dab page are in accordance with MOS:DAB.

The "the" in the title certainly is enough to distinguish the articles by Wikipedia convention, namely WP:SMALLDETAILS as I said. Neither of the other two topics ever use "The", and it already redirects to the Earle song. Therefore it's also good WP:NATURALDISAMBIGUATION, which is generally preferable to using a parentheses.--Cúchullain ^t/c 16:32, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
