March 8, 2006 - Major Update

I recently did a pretty big update on this page. I added two photographs to the previous three. I also added a section on the Galena Territory and the resort. I hope its not to "commercially" when talking about the resort, I tried to present it from a neutral perspective. I feel the resort is a mentionable part of Galena as is the territory, so I created their own section. Feel free to update the verbage of this section. We could also call the new section "The Galena Territory" instead of "The Galena Territory and Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa" but I felt like they were both pretty connected and are symbiotic.

My other concern was that this page has lots of photographs in the relation to the amount of text. Hopefully over the years the page will grow :), but I think the Galena region is very picturesque and with that right formatting & resizing, this page flows nicely and gives a very good representation of the Galena.

Regarding images resized/added: I really like the picture of downtown Galena, minus the Bug. This is a good shot, if anyone can take a picture from the same angle, maybe early in the morning with minimal vehicles, that would be solid. I know its almost impossible to do, but it would be cool if we could have a nice empty shot.

I greatly reduced the size of the map of Illinois. The issue is the dot is now pretty small, but you can still see it. Maybe if the author wants to make the dot a little larger. I just felt like the full sized map took up a lot of valuable space on the page.

I added the picture of the East Course, hole 7 to "culture and inst" as it briefly mentions the golf courses & resorts. I overlapped the image on the Galena Territory section due to its relevancy.

I also added a non-thumbnail picture to the Galena Territory section. I thought it was a good pic showing the territory. It was taken right off of Eagle Ridge Drive, that narrow spot between Lake Galena & the North course hole 11.

Finally, I enlarged the thumbnail of the Park Avenue view of Galena and the bridge. It's a very good picture and now lines up with the bottom of the page. I also think it was one of the first pictures posted in this article.
