Acronym[edit]
Can someone verify what "GLORIA" actually stands for?
I thought it was "Geological Long-Range Inclined ASDIC". I did a quick Google search, and the only explanation I found (this paper here: http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~rxb/Online%20papers/gloria.pdf) used ASDIC. Wardog 14:39, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Well spotted. The original article by Rusby et al confirms that GLORIA stands for "Geological Long Range Inclined Asdic". Thunderbird2 16:36, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Merger proposal[edit]
I propose to merge into Side-scan sonar. I think that the content in the GLORIA sidescan sonar article can easily be explained in the context of Side-scan sonar. The Gloria article is small, so it would fit easily. Alan Islas (talk) 11:37, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
