Dark Hardcore[edit]

From Ashes Rise are known for being a Dark Hardcore (punk) band, related to Crust Punk.

I wouldn't call "Dark Hardcore" an actual genre, though. "Dark" is more of an adjective. Primarily, I consider the band to be Crust Punk, which is a form of Hardcore Punk, as well as D-Beat. I would not consider them to be Heavy Metal. Crust takes a lot from Metal, but I wouldn't call it an actual subgenre; it fits under Punk instead.Wall Screamer (talk) 22:25, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

--- What about a secondary description as melodic hardcore? I know a lot of what is called melodic hardcore is much closer to emocore and can be slower tempo, but a lot of melodic hardcore is, in fact, hardcore... I wonder if it would make sense to add that as a secondary genre for these guys. Seems like def some of their songs *are* even if overall it wouldn't be fair to lump them with other melodic hardcore bands, especially of the past 10 or so years. Dead Hearts, Life Long Tragedy, Final Fight are def considered melodic hardcore, or at least partially, and are musically/melodically pretty similar to FAR... frankly, I don't think all that many people even know the term "crust punk" compared to melodic hardcore, let alone hardcore. ...
