"Giscard was said by Mitterrand to have won the election with his pun: "you do not have a monopoly on heart." Anyone know why/in what sense this is a pun? Perhaps the article should explain. I interpret it as meaning that (according to Giscard) Mitterand isn't the only person with a heart. He isn't the only person who cares. Other people have compassion too.
