Fair use rationale for Image:Flattus Maximus.jpg[edit]

Image:Flattus Maximus.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Death of Cory Smoot[edit]

I originally put a line in the section History of Flattus Maximus noting the death of the musician playing this character, and it has been changed to a new section "Death". I'm not sure how to correctly do this because Flattus isn't dead, just the musician. Thoughts? Danhgilmore (talk) 19:45, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Cory Smoot was one of a few Guitarists to fill the role. The character Flattus and Cory Smoot are two separate people. Flattus will live on. The death section should be removed and the death of Mr Smoot should be moved into the information section. There should be no detail of the death, just a quick one sentence explanation(if and when we get it). If more detail is necessary then a separate article for Corey Smoot should be created. "Gwar" vs. "GWAR"[edit]

The name "Gwar" should be fully capitalized as "GWAR". That's the way the band puts it in every media they use. Every credit page in every album booklet has it fully capitalized. Wikipedia deals with facts, not niceties. All it needs to report is that Smoot died and the character was retired out of respect. "Planet Home" was a nice way of saying this but doesn't refer to a factual place or even a fictional place that was previously established in the Gwar mythos. Not necessary. There used to be a biography section on GWAR's website that had a short bio on all the members, including Sleazy, Sexecutioner and Slymenstra. That section said that Flattus comes from Planet Home (it specifically said "Home Planet: Planet Home"). Correction to what I previously said... It's an "in-universe" location to describe the planet Gwar considers home. Still not a real place. Wikipedia also avoids writing in an "in-universe" style. Yes, of course he's a character. The point is not to write about the character as if he were a real person. So talking about him returning to his home planet as if he really did, when he's not even a real person, is hardly encyclopedic. It's not as if it's a synopsis to a movie or book.
