Removed reference[edit]

Regarding this source [1] which was removed, are you telling me that none of those Fiona Mackenzies are one who is the subject of this article? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:43, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sir
You obviously know nothing about Gaelic Music. Please undo all your atrocious edits before I complain to the Administrators. This Fiona Mackenzie is the "foremost" Gaelic singer of that name. The ones cited in the BBC article have been the source of considerable controversy in the Highlands which you would be aware of if you followed local media. None of the aRE "Gaelic" singers.
The "immotive" description have all been taken from reliable sources. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Donaldmurdo (talkcontribs) 19:31, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you notice, I didn't actually replace that BBC reference as I was waiting for your response to that. I just found it amazing that there would be so many singers with the same name. I'm sorry you found my edits atrocious, but I think you'll find they are in line with Wikipedia's policies and manual of style. I'll address the main points in the following section. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:19, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted[edit]

Firstly I spent quite some time improving this article last Wednesday, so I'm disappointed to see you label them as "atrocious". The main problems with the earlier version were:

  • Biased and subjective language. See WP:NPOV.
  • External links may only appear in the references and external links sections and may not appear in the body of the article. See WP:EL.
  • Informal language. After the first sentence, the surname only should be used. See WP:SURNAME.
  • References verifying the awards that the singer has won were missing. I found reliable sources for almost every one. These were added as footnotes.

Please let me know if you want clarification on any of the above. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:27, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

I have left in the original image, because that is not a matter of policy but more personal preference. The reason I prefer File:Fiona J Mackenzie.JPG is that it is clearer and less "arty" than File:Fiona Mackenzie.JPG. The latter could perhaps appear later in the article but I think the first one should be the more neutral of the two. What do others think? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:31, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
