final trivia mention

"Final Fantasy XII is only the twelfth single-player game in the saga"

Final Fantasy twelve is only the twelfth single player game in the saga? Wouldn't #12 be expected to be 12th? It's more confusing than that because FF11 is a net game, but there was FF X2, ten-(part)two. So it shouldn't really be "trivia" that FF12 is the twelfth. Rather that 11 isn't the 11th single player and that 10-2 is the eleventh single player. Doesn't really require a mention here; otherwise it will be trivia for every future Final Fantasy release also. 67.5.156.49 06:06, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree. This "trivia" should be mentioned in the FF11 OR FFX-2 article instead, in a way to explain that which is the eleventh series and which is not, and so on and so forth. Bluerfn 14:32, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

New lead image

I added a higher resolution image, hopefully this wont be disruptive, and once the offical game box comes out that'll be good, but till then, this one is high resolution. Judgesurreal777 22:16, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Actually, that was the official game box art for the regular version of the American game. Though, its resolution wasn't high enough. —Blurrzuki t - c 22:45, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Which is the one I uploaded then? :) Judgesurreal777 22:47, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Collectors edition image

Why should it be added to the article? Judgesurreal777 05:43, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

It should be added so the people know the difference between the two versions, which may be unclear to someone who is not aware of the special edition. Aswell as people who are buying the game as a gift. Also it's interesting. Squall1991 21:45, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Chart

None of the other Featured Final Fantasy articles have it, neither should this one. Please prosify it and add a reference. Judgesurreal777 04:41, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Last name

Last name mention: Would it be worthwhile to mention that Baltheir shares the same last name as Mustadio and Besrodio from FFT (Bunanza)? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 206.191.69.149 (talkcontribs) .

I would say so Lewis the Ger 18:15, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Gambit chart

Is there a valid reason that the Gambit table shouldn't be included in the article? It keeps getting removed, yet there's no explanation of why, and there's no re-write of the following paragraph which refers to the table. It's useful information. If anyone thinks it should be removed, let them speak now or forever hold their peace. Druff 00:38, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

The main problem with the chart (from what I see) is that it is gaming info. Remember, no advice, suggestions, tutorials, guides, manuals per 4th information policy. If you want to include that, you need to put it in prose. -- ReyBrujo 03:23, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
It's a visual aid to help explain how the Gambit system works to anyone who is curious, whether they're playing the game or not. It isn't intended as an actual game play aid, but rather an explanation of one of the more infamous new systems in the game. The information it provides is especially pertinent because FFXII's Gambit system is controversial and generally something of a mystery to those who haven't played the game yet. Aside from that, if it's going to be removed then the following paragraph needs to be rewritten; the chart shouldn't be removed unless that's done at the same time. Druff 03:14, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
I modified the gambit's name so that they match the in-game names. PyroXide 09:02, 02 November 2006 (ET)

"Final Fantasy XII Potion" materials

So I have been wondering whether it is glass or plastic that make the bottles for the limited edition Potion drink. Wikipedia says it has plastic toppers, but some website called the Elderly Gamer - linkage - says it is glass. I would like to know what this is, because I am thinking of purchasing at least one, if not the whole set, if they are glass. Oh, if I posted wrong, sorry! First time. Mahare 06:33, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

The bottle is glass, but the cap is plastic. It's actually less of a "cap" than a plastic ornament that fits over the standard breakaway, screw-on metal bottlecap (which means that the bottle isn't really useful for storing liquids after it's been opened)

IMHO, the plastic cards that came with the premium bottles were cooler than the bottles themselves.

I would guess that most of the plastic caps have survived, while all the bottles are long since broken- since the instant the blue carbonated bile inside hits your tongue, your natural reaction is to drop everything you're holding and reach for some zippo fluid or nail polish remover to rinse your mouth out with. (just kidding: while it really did taste unimaginably horrible, don't drink organic solvents)--220.29.92.4 11:46, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Espers (Zodiacs) in Development

In the development section, it states that "Chaos, Mateus, Famfrit (Dark Cloud), Zeromus and Exodus (Exdeath) are all named after the final bosses of Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV and V"

Um, how does Mateus = Experor (of Palamecia) and Famfrit = Dark Cloud? This needs to be referenced, regardless of these discepancies. ~ Hibana 00:03, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

I agree, Mateus is pretty fishy, but I myself stand by Famfrit, as it is fully addressed in Japanese as "Kurayami no Kumo Famfrit" and Kurayami no Kumo is the Japanese name for the Dark Cloud.—ウルタプ 02:13, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
I see. Isn't there a Final Fantasy XII website that can be used as a source for it though? I had to use FF12-Europe.com just to source the Gilgamesh and Exdeath appearances for the Final Fantasy V article. Perhaps the Ultimania mentions it? ~ Hibana 02:37, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

In the FFXII Scenario Ultimania, Mateus is addressed as 背徳の皇帝マティウス - "Haitoku no Koutei Mateus" (page 94,448). Haitoku is immoral or corrupt, and Koutei is emperor. For anyone who played Final Fantasy II they'll know how evil and corrupt Emperor Paramekia/Palamecia/Paramecia was. They used the name Mateus and Famfrit to keep with the continuity of FFTA. Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wing

Announced for Nintendo DS. [1]

Vaan

Why is Vaan first in character list i mean shouldn't the main character be first?

While this story revolves around Ashe's attempt to liberate Dalmasca, we see it in Vaan's point of view. We would have been playing as Ashe throughout the game and go about her activities if she was the main character. Of course, I don't see much of Vaan's significance to the story either, but that's my stand anyway. Bluerfn 21:09, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Mateus

Umm in ff1 bosses are named after element gods (like lich, tiamat) and Mateus and all the other ones are ff tactics gods(summons) the place in ff tactics is called ivalice(the same thing as ff 12), they have the same speceis (exept the pig thing and they took out bunny rabbits.

Yeeeah...if I'm correct, this information is already ON here. What does your FF1 comment have to do with FFXII? Yes, it's Ivalice. Most likely it's the same Ivalice from Tactics Advance (as opposed to Tactics). And they're called Nu Mou. I apologize if I sound harsh, but please read up on the information before you comment on stuff that's already there. Mahare 19:36, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

PAL Release

The PAL release has gone, and I was wondering when it actually is, or it it hasn't been announced.Lewis the Ger 10:21, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Okay it's back now, thanks Lewis the Ger 09:31, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Leaked

Apparently a preview copy of the game was leaked yesterday (as in full version of the game sent to certain people). Should it be mentioned on the wiki?

I Don't think it should be mentioned at all. We don't want to support the bootleg of the game, and informing people that it leaked is just as bad as giving them the link to download it. If people want it, they will find it. As soon as I found out, within 2 mins I was able to find a place to download it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JasonRR (talkcontribs) .
If covered in reliable sites, it could be. However, adding the name of the one who leaked without sources is an offense that may make Wikipedia (or the editors adding it) legally responsable. -- ReyBrujo 04:34, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Leaked Copy

What exactly is stated about the leak supposedly coming from GameSpot? Here is the Editor in Chief's GameSpot blog. If something happened, he'll likely talk about it there: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/profile/index.php?user=GregK WikiBob42 12:51, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Greg Kasavin accusations

American Review Scores

I added the scores from the magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly. Other contributers should add scores from REPUTABLE (i.e. no gamefaqs) American print and electronic media. Note that this section may require editing or have to be moved at a later point. Also, excerpts from reviews would be nice, but should be EXAMPLARY and NOT BLOAT the article. If excerpts are added, sources should be cited...

Possible trivia?

Is this the first game of the main series (not including X-2 etc) that does not allow the user to change the name of the main character? I've not played the early NES games so not too sure, but if it is then it's probably worth mentioning 172.201.175.29 15:28, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm tagging this article for cleanup. It's a chore to read, a lot of things such as how the game is critically-acclaimed is repeated, among various other things.

This article is a chore to read. Many things are repeated and a lot of sections lack a coherent flow. I'm marking it for cleanup.

typo

"Similar to Final Fantasy X, summon spells become active participants in battle; unlike Final Fantasy X, the summoner remains an active member in the fight, instead of leaving the party or standing idle while the summoned creature fights alone." I belive this text is wrong but i am no expert of the topic on which is which on the summoning esper section

Ghostbearkhan 16:51, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

How do you think it's wrong? Is there a typo (spelling mistake, grammar) or is something factually incorrect? -- VederJuda 17:27, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
So sorry I misread the paragraph, I thought it meant something else -- Ghostbearkhan 01:48, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Penelo voiced by Tara Strong

I forget where from, but I heard that Penelo was being voiced by Tara Strong, making it the third FF game (and the second FF character) in which she had voiced a lead character (Rikku in FFX and FFX-2). So I now assume it was false, but do you think it was a rumour, or just nonsense? Choogle 14:28, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Actually, the credits in the back of my FFXII instruction manual say that Cat Taber voices Penelo. Axem Titanium 22:40, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
