Merge proposal[edit]

Following preliminary discussions as part of a different merge proposal, it is now suggested that the Mull of Kintyre test be merged into Film censorship in the United Kingdom. The former was an alleged British censorship test and hence isn't notable except in context of British censorship. The Life Story of David Lloyd George?[edit]

Does The Life Story of David Lloyd George really fit in a list of films that have been banned? It wasn't released in 1918 and the prints and negatives were bought up by lawyers, but as far as I can tell it isn't even clear whether the lawyers were acting on the behalf of Lloyd George personally, the Liberal party, or the government. As far as I can tell, it wasn't refused a certificate by the BBFC, and because the prints and negs had all been bought up and it wasn't distributed, no local councils ever refused permission to screen it.

Even if the lawyers who bought all of the prints from the Ideal Film Company were representing the government rather than Lloyd George personally (which so far as I can tell is at best unproven), I don't know that it would really make sense to describe the film as being banned: whoever bought the film didn't prohibit its screening, they just made sure it wasn't available to be screened.
