This page is about predominantly European jewellery, shouldn't the spelling of the page itself be 'jewellery' then rather than the American 'jewelry' as per Wikipedia's own national English language style guide? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English

The most glaring bad thing about this page is the spelling of the word jewelry as "jewellery". As a reader and writer in English it just looks plain WRONG. In my opinion. Nasusan (talk) 15:08, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The jewellery could come from anywhere in the world - so there is no obvious choice - therefore we normally revert to the creator of the article (or the first editor to show UK vs. US difference) - the creator used jewellery as a title then used jewelery many times in the body and mentioned several US publications (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Estate_jewelery&oldid=32930888) - thus I will (sadly - as the UK spelling is jewellery and I'm in the UK) assume that he is US based and just got the title wrong and did not know how to change it. Thus I have moved that page - at least it has the advantage of leaving a redirect at the UK spelling. Ronhjones ^(Talk) 01:42, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Either "jewellery" (UK) or "jewelry" (US) would be acceptable, but not "jewelery" which is incorrect in all parts of the world. --Gccwang (talk) 02:56, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done as requested. The history of this article is basically an exercise in violations of WP:ENGVAR, including some this year and last year, but the original non-stub version of the article used the "jewelry" form. Dekimasuよ! 18:21, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Original research" tag[edit]

As far as I understand, EJ, is what you get at estate sales. WTH with periods, then? At ~~garage sales~~ estate sales you can get anything, from King Tut Period to Bling Period. So the periodisation in the article is meaningless in the context of this subject. All these periods at best belong to the generic History of jewelry article.
