Punctuation[edit]

I wonder why those two commas in "Currently, he is working for FSN Detroit, where he covers one of his former teams" were ever removed. The first one marks the interrupted intonation associated with the adverb "currently" being switched to the beginning of the sentence, instead of the continuous flow which would be the case were it placed right in contact with the verb (e.g., "He is currently working"); the second is, daresay, more important, since it marks the following clause ("where he covers ...") as non-defining, and, in this particular case, removing it actually causes the sentence not to make sense.

Maybe most people today like seeing as few punctuation marks as possible, even in an encyclopedia and at the cost of accuracy, or even readability -- but just in case that's not yet the case, I'm restoring them. 77.209.71.14 (talk) 22:21, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
