Speedy deletion[edit]

I suggest this not be marked for speedy deletion. It appears its creator is planning further additions (based on the edit summary), and in time i anticipate it would form a significant article appropriate for an encyclopedia. There are a range of poorly developed topic articles in the environmental field (eg environmental impact assessment), and the fact that "environmental monitoring" had not previously been created is symptomatic of this problem. Any steps toward correcting these sorts of omissions should be supported. hamiltonstone (talk) 02:31, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yup; I'd removed the tag anyway, although with different reasoning. Ironholds (talk) 02:35, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Missing information on air and soil monitoring[edit]

The title of the article is "Environmental monitoring," but currently it mostly discusses water quality monitoring. The topics of air and soil monitoring (which do not yet have their own articles) are properly included under this title, and possibly a few other topics as well. This could make for a very long article; it may be appropriate to set up separate articles for water quality, air, soil, etc. and make the instant article a shorter summary. (I was planning to do a water quality monitoring article myself when I had the time.) Moreau1 (talk) 03:19, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Totally agree with your comments - I have ended up writing just about all the article but my background is rivers and lakes. If you can add air, ground, sea etc. please do so. You are also right that soon it may have to spawn off daughter articles leaving short summaries on the main page. Before we do that however, it would be good to get at least all the heading and short paragraphs present. Velela  Velela Talk   11:51, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I added a section on air quality monitoring; found a few related articles which are short and narrowly focused. We still need an article on the broad concepts and techniques pertaining to AQ monitoring. Moreau1 (talk) 04:47, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
