Unreliability[edit]

There is no primary source support for the claims made by the cited genealogies. This "Sir Ellis Hicks" seems to be based on a distorted family tradition dating from the 18th or 19th centuries. He seems to be based on hazy recollections of real person who lived in the 1600s. In general, self-published genealogies should not be considered reliable sources, and very few of them turn out to be reliable on close investigation. Please see a discussion on Wikitree regarding the historicity of this person. https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/617264/did-sir-ellis-hicks-exist 68.5.102.204 (talk) 02:10, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
