any help or information would be greatly apriciatedItalic text —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.137.237.253 (talkcontribs)

Why is being the fastest growing city considered "dubious"? Isn't that an opinion? Many people would consider being the fastest growing city a sign of a good economy. I think this statement should be removed, or at least reworded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.224.218.254 (talk) 18:57, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't know if the comment below this was directed at the topic of the "fastest growing city" discussion, so I put this above it. I changed the wording in the article to reflect when it was titled that, and gave a reference from the Census Bureau where it released that information. Hopefully that helps.Killiondude (talk) 05:13, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Can a better image be provided in place of Image:Sunset Laguna Blvd.jpg?

As pretty and neat looking as Image:Sunset Laguna Blvd.jpg looks, it doesn't show what Elk Grove looks like, it's just a picture of a sunset silhouetting an Elk statue. Does anyone have a better image that can take its place? Gh5046 (talk) 05:10, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

I do not support changing the image (regardless that it is mine) in the infobox over opinion such as above. What constitutes "better" may be in the eye of the beholder, so I suggest at least using some guideline or policy and not just becuase you don't like it. A recent change was made to show three selected merchant shops in oldtown. That hardly depicts what Elk Grove looks like (although a highly superior shot to the image that was on the page of old town). For now I am returning the current and long standing image for this page and we will need to forma consensus when we do change it. Consensus can change but it hasn't yet.--Amadscientist (talk) 03:05, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

Updating the info box with correct mayor/city council

I'm not a wikipedia person so I'm not sure how to do it, but per http://www.elkgrovecity.org/council/city-council.asp the mayor is Steven M. Detrick, and several of the other positions have changed as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.52.253.10 (talk) 18:48, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

CSD SPA

There appears to be a single purpose account under the promotional name of User:CosumnesCSD that has been editing with extreme bias and major conflict of interest with promotional material that, in some cases, is clear copyright violations. Please be aware this violates a number of Wikipedia guidelines.--Amadscientist (talk) 12:37, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Sacramento County Map

The Sacramento County Map is outdated and does not reflect the current boundaries of the city of Elk Grove. Likewise, Rancho Cordova is still marked as an unincorporated CDP, but it was incorporated in 2003.

Stubbing the article

I am removing everything that does not have an inline citation. This is a direct challenge to the unsourced content. To return it, the burden of evidence is on anyone returning the content. This means a reliable source is required to make claims that are not unquestionable.--Mark Miller (talk) 06:52, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

Building the article with reliable sources

Content on Wikipedia must be verifiable unless it is unquestionable fact. To do this, articles must use sources that meet criteria set by the Wikipedia community. See Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. When referencing a source for a particular claim we use inline citations after each claim that is likely to be challenged. See Wikipedia:Verifiability. The inline citation is a formatted note the links to the reference in a automated list created when the proper mark up tags are placed. See Wikipedia:Citing sources. Any and all content that has no reference may be removed at any time, although it is sometimes better to tag the content requesting references, sometimes it is better to stub the article back to only the referenced content when too much unreferenced material is added which is commonly referred to as original research. Se Wikipedia:No original research.--Mark Miller (talk) 23:32, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

Population of California cities

Pinging Mark Miller and Evan2277.

The population of a city is supposed to revolve mainly around the decennial US Census count, per Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline#Demographics. If population estimates are used, they should be offered as supplemental information, not replacing the solid count. The US Census in 2010 said Elk Grove held 153,015 people.

That said, we have several population estimates to choose from for Elk Grove:

So we ought to restore the 2010 number and augment it with either the federal or the state number. Searching Google is not acceptable. Binksternet (talk) 00:54, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

You cannot force a project style guide on other editors or articles. The Google search was a simple demonstration and if you look will see that that information is from the from United States Census Bureau. Having said that, I support the use of the information from this source: http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/06/0622020.html which states the estimate of the population to be, as of 2013, 161,007.--Mark Miller (talk) 01:03, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
"Force" is not what I'm talking about. Rather, the project style guide was arrived at by discussion and consensus. We can take our lead from that discussion, that consensus. If we strike out on our own path then there should be a very solid reason and a very solid new consensus.
Regarding estimated population, you will note that the 2013 population estimate has at least two values, one from CA DOF dated January 1 and one from US Census that has no particular date. Both of the numbers are estimates, of course, and neither one of them has more authority. They have equal authority. The problem, of course, is that the two numbers are different. I see no reason why we cannot tell the reader both of the numbers in the article prose, since the situation is complicated. The infobox should be for simple facts that are not disputed. Nobody disputes the 2010 US Census count. Binksternet (talk) 06:24, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Quest Seminary - gone or intentionally false?

The Google translation of the archived Quest Seminary web page starts out:
Skin care cosmetics
Skin care cosmetics are very important for making beautiful and moist skin. Not only what kind of cosmetics you choose, but how you care for your skin depends on your skin type and season. Why is skin care cosmetics so important? Not a few of them are the people who didn't make much difference in their skin condition when they were young, even if they didn't...
I cannot find any information for a Quest Seminary in Elk Grove. There's a Quest Theological Seminary in North Carolina, no sign it is or was associated with Elk Grove.
I'm busy on another project right now, but someone with some bandwidth should investigate if this is a real thing that went away or intentionally fake information inserted for some reason.

Infobox image isn't of Elk Grove

The photo in the upper left corner of the infobox (captioned "Elk Grove Historic District") appears to be a picture of the Walnut Grove Iron Works, which is in Walnut Grove, California, not Elk Grove. The Iron Works website bears this out. The photo should probably be removed from this page.

  • both appear to be instances of Imperial Theaters, a theater chain. Perhaps the same design in different places. Hmains (talk) 05:02, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Hi. OP here. I doubt it is a different building. Looking at the wall plaque toward the building's left side, one can make out part of a phone number (all except the area code) that is the same as the phone number on the Walnut Grove Iron Works website. 2601:204:D100:B330:DCFB:8F06:DF65:D89A (talk) 18:19, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
