Update company description to: Wisconsin RSA #7 Limited Partnership, d.b.a. Element Mobile, is a wireless carrier headquartered in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Element Mobile began operations Jan. 8, 2011, in an area of Central Wisconsin formerly served by Alltell Wireless.

Element Mobile, which operates on a CDMA network, was created to offer residents a locally-owned wireless alternative. Formerly, Alltel Wireless served central Wisconsin, but was acquired by Verizon Wireless Element Mobile’s product offerings include a wide range of Android-based devices and BlackBerry smartphones. Since its formation, Element Mobile has invested in new equipment serving the region including a new switch, seven new cellular towers, as well as opening three new authorized retail locations. The company currently employs about 50 people and maintains two corporate stores and 17 authorized retailer locations throughout Central Wisconsin. [1] On Dec. 3, 2012, Al Aymar, a 14-year wireless industry veteran, was chosen as interim chief operating officer, replacing COO Jerry Wilke. [2]

Update network section to: Element Mobile’s network was created with new equipment prior to the Jan. 8, 2011 launch. Interop Technologies, headquartered in Fort Myers, Fla., was chosen to deploy wireless technology solutions at Element Mobile’s headquarters. Several technology features were introduced to the service area, including the world’s fastest SMS Center; a substantially scalable MMS Center; CDMA OTA (Over-the-Air) Provisioning; SCOPE™ Device Management with a “one-click fix”; and Common Short Code Gateway. These features are designed to offer Element Mobile customers the same quality of wireless service as in other more-densely populated areas of the United States. [3]

Change opening section to History. Update content to: Element Mobile started in business on Jan. 8, 2011 when it moved customers from the former company network to its own, new mobile switching equipment. The first three months of this transition were marked by service outages and customer complaints. While most of the service issues were resolved in the first quarter of 2011, a number of customers filed complaints with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Element Mobile and DATCP reached a $248,000 settlement on April 25, 2012 remediating all customer complaints.[4]

One of Element Mobile’s key purposes for being created was to ensure that the people and businesses of its Central Wisconsin service area would have access to leading mobile phone and data services. Since Element Mobile was formed, mobile services and options for customers in the market area have grown substantially. The number of Android-based smart phone choices has grown from one to several, high-speed data usage doubled; and the number of smart phones bought jumped from 600 to 7,000. In early 2012, Element Mobile customers reached milestones such as 500 million minutes used and one billion text messages sent. [5]

Add partnership and community support section: Owned and operated in the Central Wisconsin area, Element Mobile has made community support, partnership and giving back to its eight-county service areas a part of its business operations. There were many examples of partnership and community involvement in 2011 and 2012.

Element Mobile hosted a three-day customer appreciation event May 10-12, 2012, to thank all its customers, employees and authorized retailers for a great first year and the promise of a great 2012. [6]

Element Mobile has maintained an annual tradition of donating turkeys to local food pantries and shelters to help families in need during the holiday season. Recipients include family crisis centers and food pantries in Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Waupaca, and Stevens Point. [7] The Kolor for Kids Fun Fest, sponsored by Element Mobile, raised over $15,000 for the Children's Miracle Network.

On June 30, 2013, Element Mobile sponsored a concert of regional band Tuscan Road to benefit the Wisconsin Rapids Boys and Girls Club. [8][9]

I am requesting an edit to the history section of this page because the information is outdated and the links supporting the content are expired.

Below is the text I am proposing to replace the history section:

At a glance the current article appears to have some issues that requires attention. I only gleamed through the proposed edits and they appear to contain press release sources and articles that require a login to access. I also noticed stuff like this: "One of Element Mobile’s key purposes for being created was to ensure that the people and businesses of its Central Wisconsin service area would have access to leading mobile phone and data services." I would be willing to donate some time to take any draft material through the home stretch, but I would ask that you take a second shot at reducing the use of press release sources and promotionalism, so it's a little closer to ready. Thank you for your feedback & willingness to help. My revisions for the article are listed below, I've reduced the press sources as you suggested and taken out the promotionalism. Please let me know if there is anything else you would like me to edit! Thank you, Akbemis (talk)

Discussion[edit]

Lets start with the Lead. From your draft (labeled Company Description), I believe you:

  • Contest the depiction of Element Mobile as a "startup"
  • Would like to add its official company name
  • Would like to correct that it displaced Alltel, but was not "formerly marketed as"

Does that about cover it? CorporateM (Talk) 16:21, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, all correct. The company is now entering its third year of business so it should not be considered a startup any longer. Element Mobile was also not a re-brand effort it is a new brand that was created to replace Alltel. Akbemis (talk) 16:43, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I also updated the article to reflect that the outage problems have since been corrected and paraphrased the content. CorporateM (Talk) 22:23, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thank you! I would also like to propose that the following sections also be updated/added:

Update Network to: Element Mobile’s network was created with new equipment prior to the January 2011 launch. Interop Technologies, headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida, was chosen to deploy wireless technology solutions at Element Mobile’s headquarters.[1]

Add Community Support section Element Mobile has created an annual tradition of donating turkeys to local food pantries and shelters to help families in need during the holiday season. Recipients include family crisis centers and food pantries in Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Waupaca, and Stevens Point. [2] Other examples of community support include the Kolor for Kids FunFest, sponsored by Element Mobile on 25, 2012, which raised more than $15,000 for the Children's Miracle Network. [7] On June 30, 2012, Element Mobile also sponsored a concert featuring regional band Tuscan Road to benefit the Wisconsin Rapids Boys and Girls Club. [3]

The Interop source is a press release and not sufficient to support inclusion of the material. We normally only include feel-good CSR-type stuff if it is unquestionably notable, which is not the case here. Both sources are short blurbs with no bylines and probably re-written from the press release. Because the company is new, we would expect the article to be very tiny and expand over time. I think the only thing I would expect us to expand on is the infrastructure. If better sources can be found, I would like to know how many cell towers they have, what region(s) are served, number of users, revenue numbers, etc. CorporateM (Talk) 23:06, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. Because Element Mobile is a privately owned company, this information will not be provided in this article. Regarding the Company Description section, the language “displaced” is by definition not correct. In relation to the size and population of the area Element Mobile serves, they have made an outstanding, and very notable, difference in the Central Wisconsin community through their support. I would like to propose that the following sections be updated and added:

Update Company Description to: Element Mobile is a CDMA-Based cellular service provider headquartered in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, that launched in January 2011. The company, officially known as Wisconsin RSA #7 Limited Partnership, was formerly marketed as Alltel in Central Wisconsin.

Add Community Support section Element Mobile has created an annual tradition of donating turkeys to local food pantries and shelters to help families in need during the holiday season. Recipients include family crisis centers and food pantries in Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Waupaca, and Stevens Point. [4] Other examples of community support include the Kolor for Kids Funfest, sponsored by Element Mobile on August 25, 2012, which raised more than $15,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network. [5] On June 30, 2012, Element Mobile also sponsored a concert featuring regional band Tuscan Road to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area. [6]

I would also like to address the links now being used as article references. Links 2, 3, and 6 are dead. Links 1 and 7 are the same. I would like to propose the following links be updated and added:

Update References to: Link 1 stays the same. Remove link 2. Replace link 3 with [7] Links 4 and 5 stay the same. Replace link 6 with [8] Replace link 7 with [9] StartASpark (talk) 20:56, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
