Paterson Junior College[edit]

According to the sourced article on Helly, the two junior colleges he taught at were "Paterson Junior College" and "Monmouth Junior College". While Monmouth Junior College now is known to be Monmouth University, I cannot find any information on "Paterson Junior College" outside of articles on Helly and any evidence that a junior college actually did bear that name. The state website's page on closed and renamed colleges and universities in New Jersey does not list a "Paterson Junior College" and the only existing junior college from that time period is now Union County College, which Paterson is not located in. William Paterson University did exist at this time, but it was known as Paterson City Normal School, not Paterson Junior College. Do we still list Helly as having taught at Paterson Junior College without any other sources to support that this was the name of the institution he taught at, are there any other sources that verify Paterson Junior College's existence, or are there any sources that confirm the correct name of the institution Helly taught at? The state is very good at tracking former names, but there are often schools that have gone by informal names or nicknames that might not be on the database. There are several schools on the list listed as junior colleges, but none in Paterson or anywhere else in Passaic County, New Jersey. The school is listed in the 1938 Community and Junior College Journal, though Google Books doesn't display the full content, which might help track down the school.
This source from The New York Times in 1934 lists a basketball game played by "Paterson Junior College". World's collide from the two listed junior colleges in this article from 1934 in the Asbury Park Press, where "Shore high school basketball teams and New-Jersey Junior college quintets are listed to oppose the Monmouth Junior college courtsters according to a schedule released by Edward Gottlieb, director of athletics at the local junior college.... The shore five, defeated twice this year by Manasquan and Asbury Park high school courtsters, respectively, will attempt to break into the win column when it faces the Paterson Junior college team on their oppenents' court, Jan. 4."
Google Books has a number of sources that consistently place Helly at Paterson Junior College, including this contemporaneous source from 1942. More research is needed. Alansohn (talk) 16:42, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am aware of the sources that place Helly at Paterson Junior College, what I was looking for were sources outside of reference to Helly that support the existence of a Paterson Junior College. I included it in the article per the source, but I was seeking additional sources in respect to the presumably-now defunct institution. If the New York Times and the Asbury Park Press also reference a Paterson Junior College, along with the journal, that's further evidence of the school existing at one point and not the result of misinformation/the wrong name of the institution Helly taught at being spread. What happened to Paterson Junior College, we still don't know, but at least we have sources to support the information most needed on the page. Thank you - we can't find solutions without asking questions first. Bluerules (talk) 21:06, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
