King of the Hill[edit]

At-large as a job title referring to 'floating temp help' or 'gopher' also applies to non-editor jobs, see reference from King of the Hill, "Livin' on Reds, Vitamin C and Propane" December 14, 2003, where Hank is assigning jobs to his friends and says "Dale... (your job is) 'at large'."66.193.183.47 (talk) 19:20, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's just the general term "at large" which means "in a general way" rather than related to editor-at-large. Also, a cartoon is not a reliable source on the definition of words. Opencooper (talk) 06:50, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Poor Opening Line[edit]

For the sake of concision, the opening line of this page should indicate the main difference between an editor-at-large and a typical editor or reporter. The current opening line: "An editor-at-large is a journalist who contributes content to a publication." does not do this.

We can safely assume that any reader coming to this page is aware that an editor-at-large contributes content, much the same way as we can safely assume that a reader of the page "Defence Minister" knows that a Defence Minister is a politician that works for the government. It's true, and worth saying, but the opening line needs a little more information than that.

However, my knowledge of the subject matter extends to knowing that it's unclear, and no further. If someone with more experience in the subject could write a better opening line, that would be rather pleasant AndrewKkh (talk) 04:02, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
