The article contains a statement in the ‘Paddling the Dumoine’ section that ‘all rapids and fall have well-maintained portage trail around them.’ The article also cites Hap Wilson’s book that contains descriptions and maps of the Dumoine and other regional rivers. Hap Wilson’s maps of the Dumoine show many rapids classified as I and Itech for which there are no portage trails on the maps, and there is very good reason to believe that no portage trails exist in fact.

The statement in the article should be deleted or qualified since it is inaccurate as it stands. A Class I rapid is still considered a rapid, and persons who paddle it benefit from basic moving water skills.

The present statement may suggest to persons of limited canoeing experience and no moving water experience that the river can be traveled easily, because all waters that may challenge persons who have no moving water experience can be avoided by portaging. Such is not the case, and the present article may expose readers who inform themselves no further to unanticipated difficulties or risks. TomGetc 11:34, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
