Sunrise also has synchronized sound, and it's been placed on several lists of greatest silent films. It's still a silent film. Andrzejbanas (talk) 23:23, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But are the music and sound effects as essential to that 1927 film as to the modern ballet? I'm sure Pages would fit under the silent film definition but doing so misrepresents what is essentially a dance-with-music-film. Have you seen this film? It still includes several non-dance scenes and such. In Sunrise, it was quite the big deal. You even hear people shouting during one scene in it where characters are in the middle of the road. If you'd like, I can cite several sources that refer to this film as silent. The article barely mentions, below a rambling and almost completely redundant plot summary, that this is first and foremost a film of a ballet. The choreographer, Mark Godden, is never even mentioned, nor is that fact that the dance, and hence the film, has its origin in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet production. Deco Dawson[edit]

An IP continuously is adding Deco Dawson as a co-director. I have the film on my shelf and I've checked several databases and reviews (BFI, Allmovie, Variety, etc.) and I can't find her credited as a director.
