Belarusian, Russian, Kazakh Customs Union[edit]

The new customs union is depriving the Dordoy bazaar from a lot of trade, because the trade tariffs for Kazakhstan have gone way up as well as tighter controls at the Kazakh border. Whatever the fate of Kyrgyzstan and the customs union, the re-export character of the bazaar seems to disappear in the future. 83.83.1.229 (talk) 09:20, 18 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

барахолка[edit]

Dordoy bazaar is a good example for a барахолка (baracholka). Kaki2016 (talk) 12:44, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

culturally uninformed comment about purpose of bread[edit]

Currently the caption under the picture of bread being sold at Dordoy says "Naan vendors feed the hungry shopkeepers and market-goers." There are at least two problems with this statement:

  1. Most people who buy bread at Dordoy don't buy it to eat at the market, but to bring home with them.[citation needed]
  2. The picture doesn't display naan, but in fact lepyoshki. In Kyrgyz, this is indeed called нан, but it should be linked to something more appropriate.

The caption should probably be changed to something more like "Bread is sold at Dordoy", which is admittedly super boring. Anyone have thoughts on this? —Firespeaker (talk) 07:41, 11 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
