No objection to the proposed move. The only reason I did it the way I did was that the plain "Donna McFarlane" title was already in place as a redirect to the athlete, and had upwards of 50 incoming links using that spelling to get to her — and given that she only ever published a single book, isn't really all that well known and really only qualified for a Wikipedia article on the technicality that the book got shortlisted for a notable literary award, I felt that the writer wasn't really notable enough to claim primary topic over a clearly somewhat common misspelling of a much more notable person's name. If other people feel differently, though, then I don't have any objections to undabbing the writer. What I will suggest, however, is that since there are only two topics involved, then the disambiguation page is actually unnecessary if we do move the writer to the plain title — rather, we should just directly hatnote the writer and the athlete to each other using the {{for}} template instead. @Bearcat: That was indeed my intention. Also, I wouldn't say that Donna MacFarlane was massively more notable - she's never got beyond the heats at world competition in the women's steeplechase (perhaps athletics's least developed and visible track event to feature at the Olympics) though she might have more cachet in Australia, specifically. Outside of the template the article is linked on, the athlete article only has about a dozen proper links. SFB 18:25, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
