Here's the real reason: WP:SONGCOVER sets a high bar to inclusion. It's not enough to prove a cover version exists; the cover version must also gain special notice in the media, or it must reach a national chart. Binksternet (talk) 01:58, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Military service[edit]

Somebody should add material as to how McLean managed to avoid military service. The draft and Vietnam were huge, huge issues for any healthy heterosexual guy born in 1945 who wasn't in medical school, dental school, or divinity school. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.49.27.38 (talk) 01:54, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unless you can find a reliable source that actually discusses the subject, there's nothing to be said. The percentage of eligible men actually drafted is not very high. It's possible that his number was simply never called. Schazjmd (talk) 14:25, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In the making of American Pie TV program, Don admits his asthma saved him. He says, he was the only person to come back on the bus - everyone else went off to 'Nam. 2A00:23C6:54C4:3601:79B0:6529:674F:D7BB (talk) 23:09, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
