Spurious link ?

The section in Applications referring to Turing Test with a link to a paper at soton.ac.uk seems not to be relevant, and the paper linked to seems not to add to the sum of human knowledge about the topic. Would it be cynical to assume that the linker & the linkee may not be unrelated - inbound links from sites with high google weightings being what they are. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.247.143 (talk) 18:10, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Please Assume Good Faith! I also agree that the Turing Test mention seems out of place, so I will remove it. However, please don't accuse people of self-promotion without having evidence of that, it's not polite... --mcld (talk) 13:11, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Move 1

I can't see a case being made for the move to the new name. Cognition in the Wild uses "distributed cognition" as I remember it, to add "social" is to add an interpretation. If a good reason is not forthcoming I'm going to ask for admin assistance to move it back to its original name. Moves should really be proposed first/. --Snowded ^TALK 13:53, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Socially distributed cognition → Distributed Cognition – We have noticed an old discussion thread regrind the inappropriateness of the current title, “socially distributed cognition,” correctly noting that this article should just be “distributed cognition.” We propose to USURP the current page so that it re-directs to a new article titled “distributed cognition” since there has been no activity on the long-proposed title change. --Relisted. Cyborgs?

I second this sentiment. As someone who has TAd for Ed Hutchins' "Distributed Cognition" class I can say that "distributed cognition" has as much to do with cyborgs as computer processors. LeoTrottier (talk) 18:14, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

I third it. And, I will ask the same of the Turing test. I can't see what it has to do with distributed cognition. Fourth it. I was going to start a topic on this when the top thing here is exactly what I want. (Talk about distributed cognition!) What possessed someone to categorize this as having much if anything to do with cybernetics, let alone cybernetic organisms? It should be part of a series on COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY. I went ahead and (provisionally) removed the Cyborg navbox category. It didn't let me simply "Undo" the change and so I'm also looping Bri in here just in case there is some argument for it that we're missing. If there's consensus on re-introduction (I'd vote probably no but maybe Bri has a good case), then I think at minimum Cyborgs should be at least third or fourth down the list among other categories like Cognition, Grounded Cognition, Environment and Cognition, and suchlike.
