A possible source[edit]

Take a look at this: http://dsq-sds.org/article/view/849/1024 - hope it's useful. Also take a look at the sources list in the Disability in literature sandbox draft at WikiProject Disability, there are some good sources too. Roger (talk) 07:01, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Since this article already has five references to four different page ranges from the same book, I would like to convert the reference format to {{sfn}} and friends, perhaps next weekend if there are no objections. --Mirokado (talk) 02:23, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Restructuring the article[edit]

My main goal for this article is to add structure and more reliable sources. I plan to make major changes to the existing article. Some of the sections I will add are meant to begin the discussion of that topic and will not be fully fleshed out. This article is a very basic overview of the topic, therefore, I intend to strengthen this article by adding more detail and specific examples. I will provide examples of positive and negative disability representation. I will restructure the existing content into sections while adding new cited content to strengthen these sections. There is no lead section therefore this will be one of the sections I add. I will provide an overview of disability in children's literature by describing recurring problems in disability representation and common themes in positive disability representation. I will also tie this article to disability studies research. I will add additional sections that explore specific components of the representation. The existing article has large gaps in content with minimal examples and very basic statements. By adding new cited content I hope to create a more in-depth review of disability in children's literature. Another problem with this article I plan to address is the issue of tone. There is a lack of worldwide perspective in this article and many of the sentences are phrased as opinion statements. I will also remove any redundant sentences.

I have an annotated bibliography on my sandbox.

I have put together a draft of this article in which I take the existing materials and revise the structure. The article did not read well because it had been added to over time therefore I moved around a lot of the existing content and made copy edits to make it flow better. I added about 2000 words of additional content supported by scholarly research. Due to pushback from other editors I was unable to make these changes to the live article. A fully revised version of the article is available in my sandbox should anyone be interested in improving this article in the future. Satritt (talk) 22:11, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
