Flat Tie[edit]

Fair use rationale for Image:Dilbert icon.PNG[edit]

Image:Dilbert icon.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. "Dilmom"? "Mombert"? Not in the last seven years, at least.[edit]

I removed the following sentence about Dilbert's mother: "She is frequently referred to as "Dilmom", or "Mombert"." I have been reading every single Dilbert strip, like this: I read all of 2008 from the beginning, then went back to 01/01/07 and went forward, then back to 01/01/06 and went forward, etc. I am currently in August of 2001, and I haven't seen "Dilmom" or "Mombert" once! Therefore, it is not correct to say she "is frequently" referred to by those names, if it hasn't happened once in the last seven years. I'll be interested to see if I ever encounter the name, as I kinda suspect it was made up by fans as a reference nickname. For the longest time, the article read "She is frequently referred to as "Dilmom".", then eventually somebody added the "or "Mombert"." Honestly, "Mombert" at least fits in with Scott Adams's style (Dogbert, Catbert, Ratbert, etc.) . . . but "Dilmom"? Can anybody attest to this ever happening? Have you ever seen her called either of these names in the strip?

Oh, and by the way: NO, what I'm doing is not "original research"; I have simply been looking for verification of a factual claim, and have found none. That's not "research". --63.25.19.169 (talk) 20:05, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dilbert on the Autism Spectrum?[edit]

"He is a white collar office worker who has a rare medical condition characterized by an extreme intuition about all things mechanical and electrical (and utter social ineptitude), an idea that an animated television episode explored and is titled "The Knack"."

The above definitely sounds he has Asperger syndrome. Combine that with this comic from 2009 and it definitely seems like it. What are your thoughts?

Unless the author came out and stated it, it would be unsourced original research. However, to comment on your point, you obviously don't spend much time around engineers - either that or Aspergers is VASTLY under diagnosed - because I've known many engineers just like Dilbert. "Death and resurrection" is outrageous and unnecessary.[edit]
