The result of the move request was: speedily moved, this is essentially a technical request so no need to drag things out. @Heart of Destruction and SeanTheYeti452: please consider using WP:RM/TR for this sort of thing. Dick Hallorann (The Shining)Dick Hallorann – As far as I can tell, there are (at the time of this writing) no other article called Dick Hallorann and Dick Hallorann redirects to this Dick Hallorann (The Shining)-article any way. If there is no other article called "Dick Hallorann", why disambiguate this article's name as Dick Hallorann (The Shining) instead of just calling it Dick Hallorann? • Support move. With no potential for confusion, there's no need for disambiguation. O.N.R. (talk) 00:47, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Troppus per nom. Randy Kryn (talk) 03:32, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move This article was moved from the Sandbox once i had finished it. Since the article in question already existed, I had to disambiguate. - SeanTheYeti452

Role offered to Slim Pickens[edit]

The assertion that the role of Dick Hallorann was initially offered to Slim Pickens first appeared in a 2017 article in ScreenRant by Meredith Danko. It was repeated in a 2020 article on Mental Floss by Jessica Beebe. No earlier sources assert this and is deeply doubtful. It is pivotal to both the plot of the novel and the film that Hallorann is African-American, and it is unthinkable that Kubrick would offer the role to a white actor.
