Question about the Librarian of Congress, and about this article's tone[edit]
I'm wondering about the sentence that reads, "The White House ultimately came out in favor of cellphone unlocking, and against their own department that had made the technology illegal." The phrase "their own department" apparently refers to a ruling by the Librarian of Congress. It's true that the Librarian of Congress is a presidential appointee, but James Billington has held that position since 1987, when he was appointed by President Reagan. Is there any reason to believe that Mr. Billington's DMCA rulings are determined in the Obama White House?
More broadly, this kind of language seems to reflect an attitude of "Hurray, we defeated the bad guys," which is out of place in a neutral encyclopedia article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.132.179.165 (talk) 19:31, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
