Requested move 9 November 2022[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved. The article remains at the primary title in the absence of consensus on what other encyclopedic topics, if any, there are with the same name. (non-admin closure)Uanfala (talk) 16:23, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DepartingDeparting (album) – Restore original "(album)". Probably should simply be deleted. But if it stays not the primary topic of departing. In ictu oculi (talk) 20:16, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment What else on Wikipedia is called "departing"? 162 etc. (talk) 21:02, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What bearing does this have on WP:TITLE and WP:NOPRIMARY? An obscure album cannot be not the primary topic of "departing". In ictu oculi (talk) 09:28, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NOPRIMARY applies If there are multiple topics (even just two). So what's the second? 162 etc. (talk) 15:00, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Comment while we're at it, shouldn't Depart go elsewhere? Ideally we can make a DAB with depart/departing, add a link to the wiktionary and clean up a bit, I don't think these obscure albums should be at the base name.--Ortizesp (talk) 18:48, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ortizesp There is already Depart (disambiguation). a round robin of sorts can be performed between Tanya Chua's album and the dab page. Fyi, Tanya Chua's album isn't exactly obscure in certain parts of the world. Winning a major award at an esteemed music award (though politically tainted) is not a small feat. – robertsky (talk) 10:22, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I reckon Depart (disambiguation) should be moved to Depart, with Departing as a redirect. Then list all of these entries on the page with wiktionary links. Would that work? Ortizesp (talk) 16:56, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely not. It's fine as it is. WP:SMALLDETAILS and WP:NATURALDIS apply.  — Amakuru (talk) 12:25, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with 162 etc.'s concern; there has to be some other topic that readers would be looking for. The purpose of a disambiguation is navigation to actual articles, not to be a dictionary. Adumbrativus (talk) 04:20, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - there is no need to disambiguate against other topics that don't exist. Just because it's a dictionary word is not a reason in itself. With no other encyclopedic topics to disambiguate against, it's fine for it to remain at the base name. The same goes for Depart. It is distinguished from Départ and Le Départ by WP:SMALLDETAILS and hatnotes.  — Amakuru (talk) 12:20, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support and retarget to Departure. BD2412 T 20:19, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. There are no entries at the Departure disambiguation page relating to the title "Departing" so that's not an appropriate redirect at all.  — Amakuru (talk) 12:16, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
