Traditional name "Denebokab"

I could not find a reliable source for the name "Denebokab". If no one adds a reliable source, I will remove this name next month. Eynar Oxartum (talk) 18:15, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

I couldn't find any reference to that exact name earlier than an astrology guide from 1990. It is then included in the The Cambridge Guide to the Constellations in 1995. δ is of course not even in the tail of Aquila, but slap bang in the middle of the constellation. The name Deneb el Okab has been applied to at least two stars actually in the tail (or the end of one wing in many modern renditions). I suspect someone fairly recently messed up and we are propagating the error. Lithopsian (talk) 20:59, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

A reference has been added for the name. The citation links to a foreign language page of an atlas which I don't own. I can't find any occurrence of the name in the book with online searches, but maybe it is in there. Lithopsian (talk) 16:46, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Actually, WP:DUBIOUS is exactly for these cases: unlikely information (for what we stated here) and information which is particularly difficult to verify. I have requested the verification of the source here, just in case some user can help. However, the link to the digitised book (a book in Czech searched in Japanese) does not seem serious. I don't speak Japanese, but using Google Translate the linked pages seems to say that Information that matches the "Deneb Okab" was not found. I think it is highly improbable that a term appearing in a book like the Skalnate Pleso Atlas of the Heavens since 1948 has had no impact at all until recently. With all this evidence, I think it would be safe to remove it, but I will wait a bit more. Eynar Oxartum (talk) 22:07, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

I agree that it is unlikely to be in this Atlas and then be unheard of until an obscure astrology book in the 1990's. Google has not digitised this book, even in English, so searches for particular content always fail. Lithopsian (talk) 22:16, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

I have been checking The Cambridge Guide to the Constellations, and actually, you are right, the name appears on page 144 of this edition. Although it is most probably a typo, I think this source is sufficiently verifiable and serious to keep the name in the article, although I would move it to the "naming" section (currently called "etymology"). If there is not an equivalent source stating it is a typo (it is easy mixing it up when the whole reference depends on a character, that could be ζ instead of δ), it is correct to leave it there.
