Is there a reason this is the main page, and not Del tha Funkee Homosapien, with a lowercase t? Seems that'd be more... I don't know, correct? --Blue Dream 19:03, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

Del's Age[edit]

All of the sources I have give his birthdate as 1972; this includes the AllMusic Guide. Do we have a reason to believe in the 1975 date that's given in a recent edit? If not, I'm going to switch it back to '72. Brainslug 03:50, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"My Brother George"[edit]

  • You know, I was always under the impression it was a reference to Jonathan Jackson, who was killed when he took a courtroom hostage and demanded that his brother George be released from prison. I happen to think that it is a reference to that cartoon where some guy who sounds like Dustin Hoffman's Raymond Babbit from Rain Man says "I wish my brother George was here." Why is he called an alternative Hip-Hop artist? Although his sound may be different he is still Hip-Hop. He should just be labeled as Hip-Hop, for most fans of Hip-Hop tend to distinguish what is on the radio as Rap and what isn't as Hip-Hop.--Nehooper59 06:39, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

search problems[edit]

So when i want to check this page, i have to make sure that i type in "Del the Funkee Homosapien", as when i type in "del the funky homosapien" or "del tha funky homosapien" or any other variation thereof, it brings me to a "Search, no results found page". Del & Eminem cousins?[edit]

So, at the beginning of the article it says "with the support of cousins Ice Cube and Eminem...". What exactly does this mean? Having no sources to cite, I can still say I'm 99.99999% that Del is in no way related to Marshall Mathers. Is there some other Eminem? Name change?[edit]

According to Pitchfork Media, Del is now going by Del the Funky Homosapien (link here: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/46900-del-the-funky-homosapien-signs-to-def-jux-for-new-lp ) instead of Del Tha Funkee Homosapien.

This is confirmed on the Hiero website, as all Del merchandise (including CD's, t-shirts, etc) say Del The Funky Homosapien.

I'm going to change the name of this page, and put "also known as Del Tha Funkee Homosapien", unless anyone has any problem with it.

edit: i'm having trouble changing the actual title of the page. if someone can do that it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know; his name is spelled "DEL: tha funkee homosapien" on this page. Searching on google, it looks like all combinations of the/tha and funky/funkee are used.

Education and "Upgrade"?[edit]

AFAIK, Del didn't go to college. Where does get his content? Does he just read a lot? Split off "Career" from "Biography"?[edit]

Actually I take that back; there's very little biography at all. Perhaps we could leave it the same or call it "career", but subsections need to be made, it's sortof a mess right now. Cleanup[edit]

Let's be honest, this page needs some clean up. Some better wording, better organization, and updating of some outdated facts (I did a couple of these). I'll try to pitch in when I get a chance, but I thought I'd put it out there.

Unreferenced Info[edit]

Someone removed a few paragraphs because they were uncited. I know this stuff to be true, it's just a matter of citing it (and making it sound nicer [see "cleanup" above], and updating the language for this year):

Currently there is a DVD available called 11th Hour, which contains some live footage, footage of him in the studio and around the house, as well as footage of him recording 11th Hour. It was his first solo album in more than seven years.
In 2008, 11th Hour was released first, with the new Deltron album, Deltron Event II to be released afterwards. However as of 2009, Deltron Event II is yet to be released.
"11th Hour" was released by Definitive Jux instead of the usual Hiero Imperium. CEO and MC El-P all but confirmed Del's signing recently in a cryptic myspace blog post[citation needed]. Del also toured with Embedded/Def Jux artists Iller than Theirs and Junk Science. On November 6, 2007 there was a post on the Definitive Jux website that stated Del had signed with Definitive Jux.

And the last paragraph contained a quote from El P and Del pretty much plagiarized from Def Jux's site, so it should be rewritten anyway. http://www.definitivejux.net/jukies/del-funky-homosapien:

Not sure about the statement in this article that he took a 5-year break from releasing music "due to heavy use of psychedelic drugs." Del tha Funkee Homosapien → Del the Funky Homosapien — This surprised me. I was all for the "funkee" spelling until I looked a little closer...and found that this spelling only exists on two releases: the formative debut, I Wish My Brother George Was Here and the non-Del-approved (according to the wiki article) comp. The Elektra Years - there probably because somebody at the record company thought it would be clever. Anyway, it's clear from the (many) other albums that "the Funky" is his preferred nom de plume. It's even in his trademark graffiti-style logo (del! the funky homosapien). Name Spelling?[edit]
