According to Google Books, pages 12 to 15 of Band Leaders, by Julien Louis Robinson (Rockliff, 1950) are about Somers. Only the snippet view is available on the Google site, but copies are available in libraries, and for sale online.
There is also an entry for Somers in Rhythm on Record, by Hilton R. Schleman (Greenwood Press, 1978)
Also, lots of mentions-in-passing of Somers in Who's Who of British Jazz: 2nd Edition, edited by John Chilton, ISBN 9780826472342, documenting jazz musicians who worked with him.
