Number of episodes[edit]

Various published sources give different numbers of episodes. Possibly some of those counts are double counting episodes with different introductions added later. The copyright office lists 451 episodes. I have put that in the article.Bellczar (talk) 02:49, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Typo[edit]

This article says:

While original episodes were still being made, older episodes were in syndication under a different series title with other hosts; the series could ill be in competition with itself in syndication, and this also made it easier for viewers to distinguish the new episodes from the older ones.

I think the "ill" above is a type for "still." Should I change it? I have never edited a Wikipedia article. I do not want to do anything wrong.Neutrino1200 (talk) 08:56, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unreleased DVD seasons[edit]

Is there some archiving of edits? The editor who keeps writing "in the story line" has deleted some of my serious synopses in favor of his uninformative prose. I wouldn't mind so much except I think he has also deleted links to some actors (the relatively well known fellow who played the Gestapo chief in "The Sound of Music" is one.) YouRang? Television and Westerns project importance level[edit]

I re-assessed this article for both the Television and Westerns projects to a mid-level importance. I'd be inclined to increase that for the Westerns project, but will wait as the article is still undergoing expansion. This program was made in the early days of television and ran for quite a while beyond that. Being an anthology, the cast list runs as a veritable "who's who" of Television actors of the mid-20th century. Additionally, it was the last acting work done by Ronald Reagan prior to running for governor (which it likely impacted). It was one of the first Westerns targeted to adults rather than younger audiences, and its success coupled with other notable mid-level and higher importance shows (such as Gunsmoke and Bonanza) spawned an explosion of Western genre television; and it outlived most of the genre that it helped launch. I should have noted, I'd be inclined to raise its importance for the California project as well, but I do not participate in that one and will leave it up to participants of that project. But based on how Pacific Coast Borax wanted to tell the story of Death Valley, and the success that it had, it's more than just a passing low-importance article. According to McCann-Erickson's advertising data, they noted that tourism to the company's resort in Death Valley expanded based on the popularity of the show.
