Assessment[edit]

@Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: Hello. I'm looking at Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Assessment#Quality scale. For "Stub", it says:

A very basic description of the album. Provides very little meaningful content; may be little more than a title and track listing.

For "Start", it says:

An article that is developing, but which is quite incomplete and lacks adequate reliable sources. It should have:

  • An infobox.
  • A lead section giving an overview of the album.
  • A track listing.
  • Reference to at least primary personnel by name (must specify performers on the current album; a band navbox is insufficient)
  • Categorisation at least by artist and year.

It seems to me that this article should therefore be assessed as a "Start". Mudwater (Talk) 02:19, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • But there's no real overview. I expect an overview of an album to be at least a paragraph with detail, sometimes it is via additional background or about the production. A couple notes about it is not an overview to me and is not very meaningful. I mean, the assessments are subjective so if you feel like it should be a start, feel free to change it back. Thanks. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 07:33, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: Yes, the overview in the lead section is very brief. It would be better if it was more detailed, and talked about the production or other aspects of the album. But the article very clearly fulfills the "Start" criteria at WP Albums / Assessment. I would like to suggest or recommend that you therefore rate this article -- and also other album articles that are developed to a similar level -- as "Start". Thanks for your consideration of this. Yes, and it clearly states a start-class article has "a lead section giving an overview of the album." I don't consider the two sentences about where the album was recorded and when it was released an overview of the album just basic information. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 17:16, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: About the "Stub" rating for this and other album articles: I do not think it means what you think it means. Mudwater (Talk) 18:47, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's a subjective system and that's how I interpret "overview". There is a lot of gray area on those borderline cases. Feel free to change to "start" if you feel otherwise. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:52, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'd generally consider it a stub as well. Perhaps we need to look at this from another angle: if this isn't a stub, what sort of album article would be a stub? I mean this is already basically the bare-minimum for what we'd allow for an album article to exists. Any album article that doesn't even have a track list or personnel listing would almost certainly be redirected to the musician's article. If we call this a start, then we'd pretty much be eliminating stub class from albums altogether. Sergecross73 msg me 20:09, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
