Platform cooperatives[edit]

Definition[edit]

This article is a great start and provides important information. But I have to point out that there are (at least!) two major types of data cooperatives, as with classic cooperatives: Consumer cooperatives and worker cooperatives. In this case, the article talks a lot about worker cooperatives in which the value of production is shared through platform ownership.

But for data cooperatives, there's a whole category of consumer-like cooperatives, in which consumers owning a platform will decide governance and pay infrastructure combined.

The article addresses the case where the owners of the cooperative are consumer-like, i.e. other organizations representing the interest of the data subject. But this is far from saying that data subjects are "data entrepreneurs". Benjamin Bach (talk) 09:30, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
