photo[edit]

A summary of his book, background and growth of his holiday, and other details should fill out a good article. Does anyone have a photo of O'Keefe for the page? Randy Kryn (talk) 19:00, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edited and added to the page before the deletion deadline was up (although an editor had already huffed it). Shouldn't a notice of this pending action go on the creator's and principal editors talk page? O'Keefe himself, as the originator of Festivus is, imho, an important personage in recent history. The page just needs more data and sources. Please help with that. Thanks, Randy Kryn (talk) 02:32, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't an article[edit]

This isn't an article about a person. It is an article about two facts. The first fact (which is notable) is treated in its on article, Festivus. It is not clear that the second fact is sufficiently notable to belong in Wikipedia. We shouldn't have a bio with no bio in it—Finell 16:37, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Potential COI/NPOV/SPA issues[edit]

User:DanOKeefe, who purports to be the son of Daniel O'Keefe (writer), has contributed ≈11% of the total edits made to this article. KalHolmann (talk) 17:24, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

11% is not a "major contributor" so please consider removing the COI tag. I created this page, and appreciate editor DanOKeefe's updates (I've pinged him in this note to let him know about the concern). It's his father, so of course there is a connection, but many editors work on articles of people they are related to or suggest changes to them by posting on its talk page. Perhaps he can do so from now on, and if he does please help keep watch on the page if you would to assist in any future edits if you think that would alleviate any direct COI. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 19:06, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Randy Kryn, you are correct: 11% is not a major contributor. I have changed {COI} tag to {POV}. KalHolmann (talk) 19:27, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the editor will address your concerns next time he logs in. I don't think it's unusual to edit a close relatives Wikipedia page while maintaining neutrality. I've contributed to one article about a relative, and created a small template for his societal contributions, but as long as I don't remove negative information, and have only added factual data or minor clean-up edits, I don't think I've affected the neutrality of that page. Randy Kryn (talk) 19:39, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Randy Kryn, since 2016-11-18 User:DanOKeefe has made 40 edits to 4 articles—all four of which pertain to himself. That strongly suggests a single-purpose account. Let's wait to see how other editors feel about this. KalHolmann (talk) 19:49, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've removed the tag. If there is anything non-neutral about the article, just fix it; there is no need for a tag at the top.

DanOKeefe, going forward, if you have any changes you think should be made to this article or to the one on yourself, please do not edit either article directly. Instead, post an edit request on the talkpage of the article, and an experienced neutral editor will investigate the request and make it if appropriate. You may use the template code {{request edit}} at the top of your request so that it is seem more widely. Be sure to include a citation with your edit request. Thank you. Back on Twitter let me to this.[edit]

Have been banned for Twitter for too long, for trolling Ted Cruz about Uvalde. Just got my first before 2020, strangely suspended account back. But not the one I had gotten used to on Twitter. But I was back to read a lot of great tweets, and commenting on many I wanted to. Today I again saw the Happy Festivus tweets. Pretty cool ones, again. Such an awesome vibe. So I had to look it up, and that let me to this page, and now I just got to read his book: Stolen Lightning: The Social Theory of Magic That sounds right up my alley of interests. Likely help me in understanding my own philosophies deeper. I always liked parts of Readers Digest when I was a kid, and I read them in Denmark at that time. Going to write an article about this. Feel inspired for about to get enlightened. Just look at work of his children. Not to put anyone on a pedestal, I am sure they are struggling on their own problems. We all human. But I do love the writer on so much of what they done, and I do love myself some Bill Maher. Don't always agree, but always insightful. JohnnyRode (talk) 15:17, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
