The article suggests this name comes from "to await" + "glory". That's not how the old Slavic names were formed. There was no verb at the beginning but a characteristic for which the person is famous (known for). That's what "sław" meant, "sławny" - famous, known. The first element is "Cześć" - Honor, honesty.
