Architectural Merit

"Luxembourg has little of distinctive architectural merit"

Perhaps not in terms of individual buildings but, if these photos are anything to go by, Luxembourg city has some stunningly beautiful areas and a distinctive character. Isn't there anything worth saying about this? Ireneshusband 05:37, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

You are absolutely right. There is now a full article on Architecture of Luxembourg. It will be further expanded. -- Ipigott (talk) 16:46, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

"rm non-free image being used decoratively"

On this edit: The article now tells us (after markup-stripping):

Kutter's brightly coloured painting of "Luxembourg" (top of page), commissioned for the 1937 World Exposition in Paris reveals his mature Expressionist style: there is more than natural emphasis on how the houses appear to be stacked up one behind the other, how the buildings take on almost cubic contours and how the fortifications tower powerfully above the valley.

The article now refers the reader to an illustration that is not there.

The non-free image was not merely "used decoratively". -- Hoary (talk) 11:33, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

I too thought Kutter's work deserved a prominent place in the article but in view of SchuminWeb's reasoning, it might be better to have it in the Painting section, replacing the Jacoby sketch which is not so impressive. But if it is reinserted now, it may simply be removed once more and I would prefer not to be involved in a fight. In any case, the Golden Lady may be a more suitable image to convey the essence of Luxembourg culture. It was after all displayed at the Chinese expo last year. I see you also drew SchuminWeb's attention to your comments. Let's wait for his reactions. - Ipigott (talk) 14:36, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
