This page needs a lot of work[edit]

As a note for those reading this, this page has many inaccuracies. I will attempt to fix them at a later date, but it's important that users be warned to check other sources before using this information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.238.113.100 (talk) 17:39, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The page should mention organisms other than animals. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 20:33, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. And at bit of an attempt at plain English would do no harm. There are enough technical words as it is, without using an obscure term for 'came before' in this sentence -"Although this suggestion antedated the".

Otherwise interesting and good work though...

That's a bit funny actually, the "antedated" comes about because there are people in wikipedia who call themselves copyeditors and insist on changing "pre-dated" to "predated" throughout, thus changing a statement about dates to one about eating. Your suggestion of using "came before" is much, much better (change made). Sminthopsis84 (talk) 15:59, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is this really the agreed definition of "Superspecies"[edit]

I added some taxonomic info the Eurasian Sparrowhawk, including "superspecies", and was surprised to find the latter redirected here. Any comments?—GRM (talk) 16:35, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That icky situation has been fixed at some point. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 15:46, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Split[edit]

I suggest that as "Cryptic species complex" and "Superspecies" are not synonyms, a new page for Superspecies should be created. The stub could be formed by copying over the "superspecies" text from this page—GRM (talk) 10:27, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great. That has been done. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 15:47, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
