Reliable sources[edit]

Please use reliable, secondary sources independent from the developer: video game reliable sources custom Google search I am no longer watching this pageping if you'd like a response czar 21:45, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Also a reminder to use encyclopedic tone (WP:NPOV) czar 21:46, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you refer to reference source 3 redirecting to the Compulsion web site. I'm not able to find other sources reporting biography and statement of the canadian team, sorry. Lucafg74 (talk) 22:04, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

When there are not enough sources about the company itself, we either delete the article or redirect it to one of its more notable games. (Articles require significant coverage in multiple reliable, independent sources. ?) I'd like to help as you appear to be new and have a passion for this, so perhaps you would instead like to expand the Development sections of Contrast/We Happy Few with the sources you have? czar 23:46, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As a hint, We Happy Few received press coverage during their Kickstarter. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 23:49, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tomorrow i'll search for more reliable sources. Compulsion Games is an artistic reality that deserves a wiki page. Don't be so severe, please. I'm sure i'll find the right sources! Lucafg74 (talk) 23:53, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I found many interviews to C.G. team. Tomorrow i'll fix the sources! Lucafg74 (talk) 23:58, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm grateful for your help. I'm learning to edit wiki page thanks to your effort. I'm taking inspiration from this wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chinese_Room . The Chinese Room is another little and young important artistic reality in the game market. If you read the references, you will find the web site of the company as a reliable source!!! And also Twitter!!!! But don't worry! If someone is doing wrong, i'm not allowed to do wrong! Now i'm going to read a lot of interviews and article about C.G written by reliable sources and to enrich the page. Lucafg74 (talk) 11:53, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I cannot insert Compulsion Games logo image. Someone could do it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucafg74 (talkcontribs) 21:50, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks i'll be able to insert the image in a few days Lucafg74 (talk) 23:49, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Logo inserted. I don't like big margins, i think right size is 260px, the same as The Chinese Room Lucafg74 (talk) 23:10, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

But i erased thumb and center options as requested Lucafg74 (talk) 23:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Improving prose[edit]

Someone can help me to improve the prose? Lucafg74 (talk) 23:49, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Community Help[edit]

This is a community, isn't it? Well. So don't erase my work, but help to improve please. It seems someone is mobbing me!! There is plenty of wiki pages about gaming company and my voice is not so different. Yes, i'm new here so there is so much to improve. So please, help me, but don't erase anything. Say what i have to change and why. Thanks.Lucafg74 (talk) 13:50, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but i have not understand wiki policy yet. It seems very ambiguos, not coherent, illogical and castrating. I read a lot of wiki page about gaming companies and their website are in the reference links! Search for The Chinese Room (another game company) and see, please!! I've seen a lot of voices with youtube links! Now a lot of moderators mind about my links! Ok, this is a community, i accept your suggestions!! Say me how i can improve! In the meanwhile i'm going to learn more. Perhaps wikipedia try to prevent commercial speculations on its pages or illegal copyright violation. That's fine. But my purposes are of artistic and cultural nature. In the past i contributed a few italian wiki pages about music, cinema, physics. Now i want promote art in videogames, but not to promote any company, nor to violate any copyright. I hope you understand. I'm learning to do this at my best, respecting wiki policies. Thanks! Lucafg74 (talk) 13:50, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Chinese Room has a single external link to the official developer website in its External Links section—that's just for easy access, not used as a source. We don't put external links in the article's prose, though. There are guidelines on almost anything on WP if you search for them, but we also have a principle of ignoring all rules that prevent you from editing as long as editors are willing to learn when other editors collaborate. czar 18:00, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In References you can clearly see the following : Curry, Jessica (11 June 2013). "Welcome to the New Us". thechineseroom.co.uk. Retrieved 24 July 2013. Lucafg74 (talk) 23:14, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I should put the external links in a different section and not in article's prose? Ah ok, i'll do! Thanks! Lucafg74 (talk) 23:17, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Youtube[edit]

I've not understand the policy about youtube video. Could i link the following video that i find very interesting and different from usual trailers? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3jiB9wm-48 Lucafg74 (talk) 14:08, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I read the wiki video policy. I think this link is ok, so i insert it again. Lucafg74 (talk) 14:33, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Youtube links are often considered promotional and are not normally a Reliable Source so they do not normally belong in the article. In addition many of the sections in this article are Promotional I have removed some, please do not add them back without explaining here why they are not promotional. Thank you. VVikingTalkEdits 14:44, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I ask you gently not to erase, but to ask for a change after the discussion. Before the discussion, then the changes. Lucafg74 (talk) 15:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC) I read the promotional page in the link. None of the cases reported is inherent to my voice. Lucafg74 (talk) 15:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC) Yes, the reviews about Contrast were out of place, because this is the C.G page and there is a Contrast page. So i let them out Lucafg74 (talk) 15:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC) The quotes i report from reliable sources are important to give correct infos. Reporting quotes is not prohibited. Lucafg74 (talk) 15:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC) I'm doing no company promotion; when you write about artists it's normal to make quotes of their words Lucafg74 (talk) 15:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC) My purpose is not to make Contrast or We Happy Few selling! My purpose is to give useful infos about an artistic team that deserves more attention for its art. Lucafg74 (talk) 15:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC) Mine is a cultural mission Lucafg74 (talk) 15:49, 23 November 2016 (UTC) If you write about an artist, you are not promoting the commerce of his paintings! So, the same with C.G. !! Lucafg74 (talk) 15:49, 23 November 2016 (UTC) When i talk to my pupils about specific lasers and his creator and show theme real lasers, i'm not promoting their selling!! Lucafg74 (talk) 15:49, 23 November 2016 (UTC) When i show to my pupils a physics game such as a gyroscope, a yo-yo, a magnet levitation toy and so on, i'm not promoting nothing but science, i'm teaching! Lucafg74 (talk) 15:49, 23 November 2016 (UTC) Wikipedia is full of similar pages i took inspiration from. Lucafg74 (talk) 15:49, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • No but if you use quotes even if they are in quotes, in Wikipedia's voice it looks like puffery, such as "Provost escaped from the world of AAA games. He doesn’t want to do anything that someone else has already done." Youtube videos imbedded in the article are definitely not appropriate. The section on the purpose was clear is also not an appropriate section for an encyclopedia as it does not add anything other than to promote the "artist". VVikingTalkEdits 15:55, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Lucafg74, I think Viewmont Viking has made some significant and constructive edits to the page. This is an encyclopedia, articles can't be promotional in tone no matter how strongly you feel about the company. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 15:56, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

But quotes are not mine. Are external, secondary sources! Lucafg74 (talk) 15:59, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'll erase the youtube link, all right. I' don't understand why, but i'll do Lucafg74 (talk) 15:59, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion there is a misunderstanding because you see a company who sell games, i see a known, recognized and well recepted artist who make artwork!! Lucafg74 (talk) 15:59, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Try to think this is a voice about an artist, a painter. Lucafg74 (talk) 15:59, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • In my opinion there is a misunderstanding because you see a company who sell games, i see a known, recognized and well recepted artist who make artwork!!

Read our policy on neutral point of view (a main point of the five pillars of Wikipedia). This is not the venue for righting great wrongs, reconstructing the company's image, or making a statement about games as art. Our job here is to present the sources, and not primary sources, but secondary, reliable sources independent of the company. czar 17:56, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is a way to link this youtube video as external link? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3jiB9wm-48 I could also find a yt channel different from Compulsion Games if necessary.

Ehi guys, i have not understood the policy about youtube video. Could i insert youtube video under the voice "External links"? I have seen many wiki page with youtube links.Lucafg74 (talk) 16:49, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:VIDEOLINK which has guidelines on whether a youtube video can be included. I would not think that the Kickstarter pitch for We Happy Few would count under those guidelines since it is promotional in nature. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 17:02, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The kickstarter campaign is off, but i'm not going to put the video. Thanks. Vernon the best! :-) Lucafg74 (talk) 17:07, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Team statement[edit]

What's the problem to report the team statement? <<We like to think of ourselves as craftsmen, who create games that we love and are proud of. We make games because we’re excited about them, and about the concepts and ideas they contain (like shadow shifting, or a talking mask). We make games about real people in sometimes ridiculous worlds, and want to tell stories that aren’t just “I am a prince, look! a monster, I must hit it with a stick (a big one) so it dies”.>>[5] Total creative freedom is one of the greatest strengths of the independent studio. << We don’t have a distributor or a marketing director; no one outside the company influences the games we create. This is the very essence of our creativity: we can take risks if we want to… I think this is what drives the creative originality of a project.>> Lucafg74 (talk) 16:08, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why i cannot report the purposes and statements of an artistic team? It's an info useful to the reader to understand the purpose of the artists. Lucafg74 (talk) 16:23, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's wrong because is primary sourced, i.e. written by the company themselves about themselves. If someone else in writing a news article about the company had written this it would be acceptable as it would have come from an independent secondary source. In essence we are not interested in anything the company has to say about itself. only what others have said or written about the company. Nthep (talk) 16:28, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, i'll search for an indipendent secondary source. Lucafg74 (talk) 16:42, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Make sure it is independent and not someone merely reproducing a company press release, that isn't independent. Nthep (talk) 16:52, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And if you have questions, ask here first. Good luck. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 16:59, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
