Regarding the Syntax section, is it not true that "the barn red" is not being treated as a sentence but as part of the sentence "paint the barn red"? Furthermore, generative syntax wouldn't consider "paint the barn red" ungrammatical, and "the barn red" could be considered a small clause. It seems as if this section means to imply that generative syntax would simply dismiss "the barn red" as an ungrammatical string of words, and this seems misleading.

Agreed. I removed the sentences pertaining to the "paint the barn red" example. Generative syntax in no way dismisses a sentence like "paint the barn red" as ungrammatical. Article fails to properly delimit its topic[edit]

I fail to see how this article does more than delimiting CSL from non-generative approaches to language. While there are still many people in the US who take a generative world view for granted, this is hardly the case in Europe, Africa or South America. With a world-wide audience in mind, this article might have to be rewritten considerably. G Purevdorj (talk) 10:19, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
