Immediate Deletion[edit]

There is a proposal on the site "User talk: Coláiste na bhFiann-Wikipedia the free encyclopedia" (en.wiki.org/User_talk:Colaiste_na_bhFiann) to remove this entry from Wikipedia on the grounds that it serves only as an advertisement for the College. I heartily endorse this proposal and have written so elsewhere. (The same should be said about the College's sister-page on the Irish-Language Vicipéid.) A second reason for removing it is that, as in my own case, any items on the Discussion Page will be removed if they do not comply with the views of the College's Language Talibans (Taileabánaí Teangan).--AnGobanSaor (talk) 08:28, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Response[edit]

This is a retaliation for the removal of AnGobanSaor's content on the discussion page which was deemed to have a false inflamatory political bias. This political bias is self-evident in his/her most recent contribution with the wholly inappropriate, inaccurate and quite frankly offensive use of the term Taliban. The articles on both Wikipedia and Vicipéid were edited so that they comply with all requirements of both sites. Colaiste na bhFiann (talk) 15:30, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Queries![edit]

This "RESPONSE" really gave me a good belly-laugh: "Look how s/he really is nasty; s/he called us Talibans." Shades of the schoolyard!!! However, I have wasted enough time on this nonsense. I leave it to stalwart Wikipedians to deal with this page.

But, before I withdraw (gracefully, I hope) from the fray, I would like to submit some queries:

Why does the "Coláiste na bhFiann" page read like an advertisement for the College? (It contains no scholarly sources and adds none either.) Why does the College refuse to put itself, and its foundation, in any kind of social or political context?

On what right does the College permit itself to remove from the Discussion Page (as in my own case) any contribution to the debate which does not reinforce the image that the College now wishes to give to itself? Is this an on-line encyclopedia article or a tourist brochure?

Referring back to the College song (on the College's own Website), how exactly does "Cumann na BhFiann, Cumann iar-scolaire (past-pupils club)... oibríonn le chéile an chuid eile den bhlian (work together, the rest of the year)... in aghaidh Gall sa tír seo ("Against foreigners in this country")?

Does the link on the Article page, "About us," indicate Neutrality?

Why does the College refuse to allow anything to be said about its history, and, in particular about the crucial role played in its foundation by Domhnall Ó Lubhlaí?AnGobanSaor (talk) 10:59, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meanwhile, those who wish the study the history and initial ideology of Coláiste na BhFiann may find fit to consult the site www.colaistenabhfiann-olubhlai.net.--AnGobanSaor (talk) 11:39, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
