Death[edit]

The statement: "On 15 November 1997, while attending a private company party with Stefan de Walle and Tatjana Šimić three days after his 47th birthday" in the section Death is unsourced. Other online claims cite: "Tragically, Coen van Vrijberghe de Coningh passed away on November 15, 1997, at the age of 46, while performing in a theatre play in Haarlem, Netherlands." The Dutch WP article states he was performing in a Flodder sketch at a private company party for a car brand in the First Floor Film Factory. Dutch WP Article. List of entertainers who died during a performance recently removed an (unsourced) entry on de Coningh's death because it seemed he died at a "party". I am pinging editor @Geni: who challenged the edit on the List article. The entry on that page seems just a little too specific not to have been taken from some source: "Dutchman Coen van Vrijberghe de Coningh died of cardiac arrest during a performance of the television series Flodder. He and another actor drove in a Chevrolet. While jumping onto the hood, he fell and died. The audience thought it was part of the show, but the actors were aware of what had happened." Although, Fodder is both a film and television series; it would make sense as it relates to the car company party. However, IMDB states: "[de Coningh] died of a cardiac arrest while doing an improvised stunt during a wrap party for Flodder (1993) season 4 and 5 on November 15, 1997." It would seem that over time an urban legend has sprouted with a mish-mash of mis-information. Until a more reliable source can be found, the entry here at this article needs either a (cn) template or be removed entirely. It is enough to state: "On 15 November 1997, three days after his 47th birthday, De Coningh suffered a fatal cardiac arrest." Maineartists (talk) 21:37, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
