Last modern whaling station in North America[edit]

The last modern whaling station was not the one in Coal Harbour. One existed in Richmond, California until 1971. See Webb, R. L. 2001. “Power Whaling: Industrial Shore Whaling on the West Coast 1905-1972.” In Whale Hunters on Western Shores. Mains’l vol. 37 no. 1. He gives the wrong date (1972 instead of 1971), but gives a good overview of modern whaling on the west coast of North America. Jonas Poole (talk) 03:52, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Steam engines ?[edit]

"powered by two WWII US destroyer steam engines" - sound more likely that it was powered by two US destroyer steam boilers. (Most of the steam used in a whaling factory is used for cooking. Mechanical power was generated by small steam enginens, placed wherever power was needed.)
