This article is in need of major revision, both stylistically and in its overall factual treatment. I began the process but ran into time pressure, and will return to complete the job in the near future.

Significance section deleted[edit]

That section was un-saveable: badly written, political POV, badly-sourced, illiterate, and generally wrong. Please don't revert, and don't consult it in rewriting.
