Number of finishers[edit]

Thanks for taking an active interest in the article, Vesuvius Dogg. You might be interested in the comment I posted at fr:Discussion:Circuit des Champs de Bataille#English article, trying to get some clarity about the number of finishers. Cordless Larry (talk) 16:52, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Was about to ping you about that French article (a 'bon article') and its additional sources. My French is fluent and I'll be working to bring in some of them; I thank you in advance for alerting me to this important discrepancy. Of course it's acceptable to report both facts when there is a difference in RS. It's not a DYK deal-killer not to have it, but one of us should start an article on Charles Deruyter so he's not red-linked. The photo of him illustrating the race is better than the one used on his French language bio, methinks. Vesuvius Dogg (talk) 17:22, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, your help is appreciated. The 19th-placed finisher listed in the French article is noted as finishing a massive 52 h 23 min 7 s behind the winner, which might have something to do with it! Perhaps different contemporary sources stopped counting the finishers at different points, and that discrepancy has made it into recent histories. I finally created a stub for Charles Deruyter. Have you had any luck with the French sources, Vesuvius Dogg? Cordless Larry (talk) 10:14, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
