The Alphabet of Manliness mention?

Chuck Norris has recently had an entire chapter written about him in Maddox's book "The Alphabet of Manliness" under the N chapter. I think this should be added to the pop culture section of the page. Ilabb 23:54, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Bruce Lee humiliating Chuck Norris

I wonder if this story is true? Here's what I've found at imdb: www.imdb.com/name/nm0000045/board/nest/24415793 --RockyMM 03:00, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

The story is true. If anyone wants a source, go pay a visit to Dan Inosanto, Chuck Norris wrote an apologetic letter to Bruce Lee and the original letter is currently in the care of Lee's student, Dan Inosanto.
Please see the section below, dated 19 December 2005, for further discussion. Shawnc 04:52, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
The following story is Completely True:

At a demonstration in Long Beach, Norris met the soon to be famous Bruce Lee, who would ingrain Norris in martial arts history forever with his portrayal as Bruce Lee's nemesis in the Way of the Dragon. www.netkushi.com/articles/chuck-norris.php But while the two were publicly friendly, contrary to what many (including Norris himself) state, they were not close friends. Lee had repeatedly humiliated Norris during a mock sparring session in the hotel hallway at the Long Beach International Karate Championships in 1964. And Norris had offended Lee when he publicly claimed to be a better fighter than Lee. When word got back to Lee, he called Norris and openly challenged him, threatening to drive to his school to fight (Norris was teaching his black belt class at that time). According to eye witnesses, Lee made Norris hold the phone receiver up and shout in front of his black belts, "Bruce Lee is a better fighter than me!" Later, Norris wrote an Apologetic Letter to Lee; the original letter is currently in the care of Lee's student, Dan Inosanto. Dan Inosanto currently still owns the Letter of Apology that Chuck Norris wrote to Bruce Lee, which is in a Long Beach Dojo. Yet despite these conflicts, the two managed to set aside any differences in pursuit of their mutual film aspirations and develop a friendly public persona toward one another. www.classictvhits.com/cast.php?id=4420

Why don't we put a link to the Chuck Norris Random Fact generator under external links? It seems that Chuck Norris has most recently become much more famous because of the hilarity of those facts and it seems wrong to ignore the impact that this internet meme has. At the very least, it's existence should be mentioned in a biography of Chuck Norris. Kevin143 00:48, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Kevin143

I completely agree - in fact, a few days ago I expanded a stubby reference to the page to say:
Chuck Norris is the subject of a satirical random fact generator on the internet, which features comments contributed by readers. The "facts" provided therein tend towards absurdly exaggerated claims of Norris' toughness, attitude, and virility.
This was deleted, and I didn't argue it at the time, but since then a fellow attorney (quite out of the blue) sent me the link, which I take as a sign that it's getting around. bd2412 T 04:34, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

Chuck Norris acknowledges the facts and thinks they're funny himself. He acknowledges it on his personal website as well as on the Tony Danza show a couple of days ago. Here is a video: www.youtube.com/?v=QP1PuB1R-Xw

If we just put up a few of those jokes as examples, i bet the vandalism would die out. The Isiah 03:58, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

George Bush's Favorite Actor?

Is there any source for claiming Bush said chuck norris was his favorite actor? It sounds like a joke to me... TastyCakes 00:16, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

I can't provide a source either, however I have heard it multiple times in the past, so even if it is unfounded, i wouldnt call it vandalism. -Lanoitarus 04:03, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Circular references are a very important academic tools. I don't think anyone would joke about such things. TastyCakes 20:57, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually it makes perfect sense. Bush claimed that Norris and Sylvester Stallone are his favorite actors. Both men are Republicans, so it's easy to see why the President named them as his favorites.

NOEDITSECTION added

Hall Monitor, I noticed that you added the NOEDITSECTION. I understand this supposedly helps deal with vandals, but I know it also makes it a bit harder for legitimate users to edit the article, especially those of us using Firefox, which cannot search in text boxes. Do you think the level of vandalism is really so bad as to require this extreme measure? --Cyde Weys talkcontribs 21:28, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

It is too soon to tell. Let's give it a chance for a week and see if it makes any difference. If you wish to be able to search within text boxes using Firefox, please refer to Wikipedia:Tools/Browser_Integration#Search_within_Textarea_Extension. Best regards, Hall Monitor 21:52, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

You know much as I'm sure there'll be huge advances in what we know about Chuck Norris in the next few months, can't we just lock the article for a significant length of time until he melts back into obscurity again? This constant reverting is getting stupid. They should have a setting on Wikipedia to lock individual articles against anonymous contributors but not registered people... Or do they have one already I just don't know about? It'd be cool if there could be a setting to stop anonymous posters and registered posters with less than a certain number of edits on certain heavily vandalised pages. TastyCakes 00:53, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Chuck Norris is never going to melt into obscurity! And what recent events do you contend have made him such a popular target amongst vandals? As for your second question, please see Wikipedia:Semi-protection policy --Cyde Weys talkcontribs 01:06, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
Well there has been a "chuck norris facts" email that is making the rounds, that's where they all come from that I've seen. I received the email last week. It originates www.4q.cc/chuck/ here. Of course Conan O'Brian is doing his part too and that probably won't stop for a while... TastyCakes 02:15, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

I'd like to say if something were mentioned in the article about the cult-like following these "facts" have and put a link to them people might stop messing with it here. Maybe it won't be so cool when everyone can see it's copied from a site made by people funnier than them. But it might just encourage them. TastyCakes 23:29, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
I have heard enough citation of the Fact Generator online and in everyday life that I was surprised to find no mention of it here; I actually read the article to see what Wikipedia would have to say about it. I definitely think the information should be included. Less noteworthy internet memes have had their mention here. --BDD 22:47, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Removed unverified content about Bruce Lee

No, he was very close friends. He's mentioned for like 5 chapters in the book.

I have removed this content which I found difficult to verify:

But while the two were publicly friendly, contrary to what many (including Norris himself) state, they were not close friends. Yet despite these conflicts, the two managed to set aside any differences in pursuit of their mutual film aspirations and develop a friendly public persona toward one another.

Interesting as it is, it is a bit surreal, and with no cited sources it shouldn't be in the article.

SpuriousQ 23:44, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

It SHOULD be in the article because the Bruce Lee incident is VERY Important to Chuck Norris. This is the source. www.imdb.com/name/nm0000045/board/nest/24415793. If anyone wants a source, go pay a visit to Dan Inosanto, Chuck Norris wrote an apologetic letter to Bruce Lee and the original letter is currently in the care of Bruce Lee's student, Dan Inosanto.
  • That imdb link brings up an empty page for me. Also, a post on an internet message board (which this appears to be trying to link to) is not a reliable source. Also, the wikipedia article you cite has no mention of the letter you mention. -- MisterHand 15:21, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
    • The story is true. If you wants a source, go pay a visit to Dan Inosanto, he is currently teaching Jeet Kune Do classes and can be contacted. Chuck Norris wrote an apologetic letter to Bruce Lee and the original letter is currently in the care of Bruce Lee's student, Dan Inosanto.
      • That's not acceptable as a source. See WP:RS, specificially "We may not use primary sources whose information has not been made available by a credible publication.". -- MisterHand 16:15, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
        • The APOLOGETIC LETTER was wrote by Chuck Norris himself to Bruce Lee and the original letter is currently in the care of Bruce Lee's student, Dan Inosanto. Go pay a visit to JKD Master Dan Inosanto ALREADY. Dan Inosanto can be Contacted EASILY as he is currently teaching Jeet Kune Do classes.. Tell me when was the last time you sat down with Ted Wong and Dan Inosanto and Discussed the Topic.
          • You're missing the point. Primary sources in a Wikipedia article need to be verified via a credible publication. See WP:RS. If Inosanto or Wong mention the letter in an interview somewhere, for instance, that would be acceptable as a source. Does that make more sense? -- MisterHand 16:50, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

As per official policy, WP:V: "The burden of evidence lies with the editor who has made the edit. Editors should therefore provide references. Any edit lacking a source may be removed." We as editors must remove any unsourced information that is controversial. Shawnc 17:46, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Since a credible publication has not been provided which states that Dan Inosanto has such a letter, I suggest that the disputed statements be removed after several days if no reference is provided by then. Shawnc 04:56, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Chuck Norris Fact Generator

There needs to be a section added about Chuck Norris, the Internet meme. We've all heard of the Chuck Norris facts.

I'm in favor of keeping the link (which was just recently removed), it's something of an internet meme, and speaks volumes about public perception regarding Chuck's celebrity status Elijya 19:38, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

I also agree that the Chuck-Norris-internet-fact-phenomenon should be noted somehow in this article. I created a separate article for Random Chuck Norris Fact and added a link to it from this article. I hope that this will be seen as an acceptable compromise to deleting the link. Mark.howison 05:40, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
note that someone speedy deleted that article.--Alhutch 15:48, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Also, this internet meme has www.ytmnd.com/list/?search=chuck+norris 4+ pages of YTMNDs dedicated to it. That, and the fact that I actually sought out this article after hearing about the fad.-LtNOWIS 21:25, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Then discuss it legitimately in the article, don't just add a random humorous link to the external links section without an explanation. --Cyde Weys votetalk 21:42, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Personally, I feel the random "fact" generator is rather trivial and insignificant in the grand scheme of what is supposed to be a biography about Chuck Norris. A somewhat tangental discussion was recently held on the Louis Braille talk page regarding whether or not we should document in his biographical article that Google linked to his name on his birthday this week. Nonetheless, I am open to ideas — how does one propose this be noted? Hall Monitor 21:50, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
The "Chuck Norris Fact Generator" isn't unique. I saw one just like it for Vin Diesel. No need to mention it on the page. -- MisterHand 04:32, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Agree. It's not even a real fact generator; it's just a list of silly sentences about Chuck Norris that are served up one at a time in random order. And most of them aren't even funny. Definitely not encyclopedic. --Cyde Weys votetalk 04:37, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Obviously it's not a real fact generator. Anyone who thinks any of those facts are real can't be anything other than a total moron. And your opinions on whether or not it's funny are POV and irrelevant. There are, in fact, three of these generators: Chuck Norris, Mr. T, and Vin Diesel, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a widespread internet meme and should be noted in the article. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 139.147.148.118 (talk • contribs) 14:21, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually, that it is a widespread meme and "should be noted" is also a matter of opinion, one which not everyone agrees with. What we are now discussing is how to accomplishing giving this trivial piece of information note, if at all. Hall Monitor 20:25, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Not knowing that this heated discussion was occuring, and being relatively new to editing articles, I went ahead and took the intiative to add a small section about the memes in the trivia section. I think that just the mention that there is a meme about Mr. Norris is not a matter of opinion and is factual. It may be useless, but that's why it's in the trivia section. noah 06:37, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

I Think its important to list the Chuck Norris Facts. While not actual facts, they do provide pretty good satire and they should be represented as an internet meme. --Shaun1018 04:39, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

External links: which "fact generator" should be linked?

Hello there. I own and operate www.4q.cc, which is the original Chuck Norris Fact Generator (www.4q.cc/chuck). Since the article is locked, I kindly request an administrator or whoever that the link to www.chucknorrisfacts.com be removed as they have simply stolen my content and are promoting it without my permission. Thank you. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 138.16.27.148 (talk • contribs) .

From the "facts" article: Chuck Norris Facts were originally seen on IRC, and on websites like the Something Awful forums, in Spring 2005. While your site might be the original random fact generator, I don't think that the facts themselves are "owned" by anyone; it appears that they were a collaborative effort by anonymous and disparate individuals. OhnoitsJamieTalk 19:45, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
Agree with OhnoitsJamieTalk. 4q.cc is just a bunch of quotes collected from other places. From this interview with Ian Spector of 4q, about his "generator" websites: "Although Ian Spector maintains the site, approximately 90% of the "facts" are contributed by visitors – most of whom are either college students or stuck in a cubicle ... The website was spawned from a discussion thread on the massively popular internet forum, SomethingAwful.com" www.upstagemagazine.com/articles/getarticle-new.php?ID=1549 Tomservo3000 03:52, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
I also agree with Ohnoitsjamie, however what site should be linked? Apparently the whois records of the sites show that 4q.cc was the original, so should it then be linked over the newer chucknorrisfacts.com? Still if it's essentially quotes copied from the somethingawful forums, then it probably just comes down to a matter of what site's easier and more helpful to the reader- probably what's listed right now, chucknorrisfacts.com. Ian's left me a message on my talk page and I told him we should keep the discussion here. Mrtea (talk) 07:04, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Agree with Mrtea. It appears that the WHOIS "created date" of chucknorrisfacts.com may not be accurate. It is possible the chucknorrisfacts.com address was transferred from another domain registrar and the date was "reset". If you check the WHOIS of a "copycat" site (chucknorrisfacts.net), it shows a created date several weeks "earlier" than chucknorrisfacts.com. It doesn't seem logical that someone would register the .net over the .com address. There's discussion of this subject here forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=15554 Hamilton burr 08:56, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

I came to this site after googling to try to find out why all these wacky chuck norris references are popping up everywhere lately. I would be grateful if someone could explain what it is about and how how this all started.

Having personally witnessed the thread that spawned the Chuck Norris Facts (NOT on SomethingAwful, but LUElinks, I can confirm that 4q.cc is the original site. 65.68.145.113 02:46, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

I have found the site that has been responsible for the recent vandalism:boards.ign.com/Message.aspx?topic=108216959&brd=5296&start=108245640
wow, unbelievable. I did notice a great surge in anon vandalism today, and I was wondering if it was a coordinated effort from an outside website. Still, this is rather surprising.--Alhutch 00:09, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

I re-semi-protected. This "Chuck Norris Facts" stuff is getting a bit out of hand. -R. fiend 19:55, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Very good decision. It's been a big blip on the radar today. PJM 19:58, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Dab header

I don't agree with the disambiguation header, as they're meant only for things with the same or confusingly very similar titles. Having it for Chuck Norris Facts is like having a dab header at Manhattan for Manhattan Murder Mystery. If more prominent link to the "facts" article is needed we should look at an elegant way of moving it up towards the beginning of the article. Dab headers liek this are a real stretch and a bad precedent. -R. fiend 03:37, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

  • I agree with the above. I'm changing it per WP:BB and putting the link in the "see also" section instead. Any problems with this, bring them up here or let me know or change it back :) -Lanoitarus (talk) .:. 08:02, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

This isn't anywhere near prominent enough.

  • Most people look for the jokes
  • Most people have no idea where the article about the jokes is, so check Chuck Norris

So if not in the otheruses, it should be in the intro paragraph. Taw 10:07, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Intro paragraph might be okay, if it can be worked into the prose elegantly, rather than haphazardly chucked in there (no pun intended). It is, however, not ideal. I'm not sure why you assume most people are looking for the facts. Most vandals clearly are, but that's a different thing entirely. We should keep in mind that we have a repected (I guess) actor who's been in movies and TV shows for decades (mostly bad, but still), and who has been honored with various awards. The "Facts" is a recent fad that will likely soon fade. I think we run the danger of stressing them too much, as an encyclopedia. -R. fiend 18:35, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
I could not agree more. The "facts" might deserve mention in passing here, but in the grand scheme of things, they are largely irrelevant to Chuck Norris as a person (and his biographical article). The granular details of the meme should be worked out in Chuck Norris Facts, not here. Best regards, Hall Monitor 18:44, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Re-re-semi-protection

I've once again semi-protected this, as the "Chuck Norris Facts" keep coming. Sorry Splash, but your claim that it's been protected long enough to deter simple vandalism just doesn't seem to be the case. I'm suspecting this will have to remain semi-protected until the Chuck Norris Facts fad dies down. -R. fiend 22:44, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

There were only two incidences of vandalism in the three hours after Splash unprotected. That's nothing compared to the way it was before. I think we should unprotect, since protection is supposed to be used sparingly. This is hardly anything we can't deal with by reverting and blocking right now.--Alhutch 22:47, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Two in three hours is still quite a bit, and I didn't see any indication that it was about to improve. Established users can still edit the article, in fact, if you only need an account for 4 days, probably quite a few vandals can too. -R. fiend 22:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Take a look at the protection policy, if you would. It's only supposed to be used for persisent vandalism. Two in three hours is really not that persistent. Especially after this page was targeted by IGN people earlier. sorry, i don't think there's a real need for protection.--Alhutch 23:02, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I'll remove the sprotection, if only as an experiment to see how many times the page is vandalized. If the vandalism is heavy, I will resprotect it. -R. fiend 23:28, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
good good.--Alhutch 00:07, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't want to jinx it, but things look good on the vandalism front so far.--Alhutch 00:53, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
I count 4 since unprotection, which isn't tons, but it's far more than most articles get. How many in 24 hours constitutes "persistent"? -R. fiend 14:51, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
Two hours later, it's over ten more. Time to re-sprotect? -R. fiend 16:47, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
I didn't keep score when IGN ws hammering away, but that sounds like a pretty persistent rate of vandalism. A tag is probably justified, at least for a while to let things simmer. ZZ 17:33, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
I'd also agree with the protection, but I don't think things are going to simmer down any time soon. Mrtea (talk) 18:04, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, there's been what in my mind amounts to unacceptable levels of vandalism here. Any objections to more semi-protection? -R. fiend 18:53, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

The article has been reprotected (semi). Please remove protection after a reasonable period of time. Best regards, Hall Monitor 18:55, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
no objections here. vandals don't deserve the privilege of editing wikipedia.--Alhutch 18:57, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Intro paragraph

He's not just an actor, and a martial artist, he's also a USAF veteran and that should be clearly noted at the top of the page. That is in some ways more important than his acting or martial arts. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.48.221.23 (talk • contribs) 00:24, 2 February 2006.

Sorry folks

I had to move this up to FP since several vandals found a way around SP. *sigh* --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 08:20, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Is it necessary? Can't we just block all the accounts that vandalize the page? -R. fiend 17:23, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
I've got to agree on the question of "is it necessary"? Can't the line for accounts being able to edit a semi-protected page be set towards older accounts, and treat vandals with no mercy? --Wingsandsword 18:44, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
Unless I'm mistaken, the three choices for protection allow for edits by: 1) admins only, 2) registered accounts at least 4 days old, or 3) anyone. I don't think there's a way to change it from 4 days to, say 2 weeks or anything (not without major changes that admins can't do). Option 2 gets rid of the anons (the worst offenders) but it doesn't take long for an account to age 4 days. I think semi-protection and blocking vandals (maybe even indefinitely in the cases where the account was made for the sole purpose of vandalism) is the way to go. -R. fiend 19:33, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Chuck Norris the Author

He co-wrote his second autobiography last year, and co-wrote a fiction novel this year. Section "1.2 Rise to fame"

In my opinion, the following sentence should be moved to an other section, since it has nothing to do with Norris' rise to fame: "In 1970, his younger brother Weiland was killed in Vietnam. Norris later dedicated his Missing in Action films to his brother's memory." PJ 09:23, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Better picture?

Demotion to semi-protection

I move that this page be demoted to semi-protection as pretty much all of the vandalism was by anonymous users, and we shouldn't cut off registered users from editing unless we really need to. --Cyde Weys 23:22, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

I agree. As of now the page is non-protected, which I don't think is such a good idea either. The "Facts" vandals have not left. I think semi-protection is the best course. -R. fiend 21:55, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Belt Rank

The beginning of the section about his early career seems to imply that he has a black belt in Brazilian Ju Jitsu. According to the official BJJ web site, www.bjj.org, chuck is a brown belt under Carlos Machado ( www.bjj.org/a/people/machado-carlos.html ). This should be included, or reworded so a black belt is not implied. 67.163.246.99 23:07, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Not only that, but there -is- no black belt in Tang Soo Do, only midnight blue, as one progresses from the 'Gup's (A white belt is 10th Gup - Red Belt with two stripes is 1st Gup) to the 'Dan's (A newly tested-in Midnight Blue belt is 1st Dan. The founding Grandmaster, Hwang Kee, is 9th). It sounds trivial, but one of the reasons Master Kee chose the color blue was because of the symbolism behind it (not only the autumn of one's life, but also the calm, inner peace of one who has truly mastered martial arts). He felt that Black not only represented death, but also perfection, and so shunned said color. Since merely mentioning that I am a 4th gup does not satisfy, here's a link to the Tang Soo Do Education Area: www.tsdmgk.com/educationpage.htm#BeltRankingSystem . Removed disambiguation to Chuck Norris Facts

According to WP:DAB:

  • "When there is no risk of confusion, do not disambiguate, or add a link to a disambiguation page."
  • "Lists of articles of which the disambiguated term forms only a part of the article title don't belong here."

Since, realistically, one will arrive at Chuck Norris looking for information about him, and the "Chuck Norris facts" are mentioned later on the page, I've removed the disambiguation notice. æle 02:49, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Is the trivia section worthless?

I think it is. But more importantly, for such a high traffic entry, it's an attractive waste dump. The trivia--not too interesting stuff--will just build up until the article is a mess. I am going to remove the section and merge a couple of facts. Objections??

Lotsofissues 19:09, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Trivia sections almost always are. If those facts are important they should be worked into the body of the article. -R. fiend 06:55, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Do we really need "Facts" examples in the main article?

I don't think that the main article needs any (let alone two) examples of "Chuck Norris Facts." There is already a mention of the meme and a link to the entry. I see the inclusion of "facts" in the main article as a concession to the vandals. Thoughts? OhNoitsJamieTalk 18:37, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

I think that a big reason the article is so popular is because of the recent facts fad, so it's rather relevant to the topic. Perhaps two is excessive, one would probably suffice to demonstrate the idea. Serlin 18:44, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
The only reason some editors want this included is because it is Popular Right Now. We are writing an encyclopedia, not a list of things that are currently funny on the internet. Monkeyman(talk) 18:45, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

I would support having a fact or two on there if it stopped the vandals, but it doesn't, so it's not appropriate for the article. -- MisterHand 20:11, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
I think that there should be one example in the article, enough to interest people that have not heard of the meme to continue reading.--RockyMM 12:07, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
I think that there should Bold textdefinitelyBold text be several examples of Chuck Norris "Facts" in this article. Obviously not all of the hundreds that exist, but maybe a short list of 5-10. That would serve as a good example of what there Chuck Norris "Facts" are like, and would entice people to check out the other links if they want to know more. If people only see one example, then they might not understand the jokes that well. By the way, happy birthday to Chuck Norris, who turns 66 today! --Mike 03:15, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Ancestry

According to The Biography Channel, Chuck Norris' mother was Irish, not Navajo as claimed in this article: www.thebiographychannel.co.uk/biography_story/1706:2082/1/Chuck_Norris.htm

Yeah, both his parents were half Irish and half Cherokee, according to his autobiography, Against All Odds: My Story. I edited the page accordingly.

Why did you guys taking the jokes off. If you left them on in the talk page less people would vandalise the real page The Isiah 18:49, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

It's pretty easy to revert vandalism. If the vandalism rate spikes, we just semi-protect the page. The jokes do not belong on the main page for the same reason that we don't put Bush or Clinton jokes on their respective articles. OhNoitsJamieTalk 16:11, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Actually, this "fact" pops up frequently in the context of the Chuck Norris Facts meme (i.e., that he roundhouse kicked the devil, or God, or a cow). bd2412 T 02:53, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Definitly NOT!!! I have removed it! --RockyMM 21:55, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
I'm not objecting so much as would like to know why. Also the kick article has a see also to chuck norris that's still there. In my opinion mentioning norris's favorite martial arts moves if any where would belong here more than kick. DyslexicEditor 03:19, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
I used to train with Pat Burleson, a contemporary of Allan Steen. Back in Norris' tournament days, he was noted for throwing rapid punch combinations (known as the "blitz punch") in a time when most competitors relied on single-shot power attacks. While he did like the head-high roundhouse in movies because it's flashy, it's not what he used in tournaments - head kicks are too easily blocked. (Anecdotal evidence, I know, which is why I wouldn't add it to the article). --Jamoche 04:14, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

I seem to remember watching a television program a few years back that said he was injured during one of his films and ended up with scarring on his chin and/or lip and that's why he wears a beard. I notice nothing about this in the article, did that happen, or is my memory just terrible?

I personally know several people who have gotten several IP addresses at my school banned through repeated vandalism of this page, and editing Chuck into other articles as well. Ok, so I was one of them. But we have been collectively appeased by the acknowledgement of the the facts in the Popular Culture section, or whatever that is. DOCTOR Chuck

I was at Liberty University this past weekend when he gave the commencement speech, which was absolutely epic, anyway, Falwell Jr. gave him an honorary doctorate, so he's now Doctor Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris. I think that's worth mentioning. This is exactly what Liberty University's web page said:

"LU Chancellor and President Jerry Falwell Jr. said this was a first for LU: “Today is historic because it is the first commencement address at Liberty that will be delivered in cowboy boots.”

Carlos Ray Norris, who is most known for his good-guy role defending justice on TV’s Walker, Texas Ranger, then received an honorary degree, Doctorate of Humanities, from Liberty."

All the information, and more, can be found at this link on Liberty's official website: https://www.liberty.edu/libertyjournal/index.cfm?PID=16046&artid=185

Hey genius, Joe Lewis is a different spelling and different person from Joe Louis. Joe Lewis is a professional martial artist. Joe Louis was "the Brown Bomber," a professional boxer.

Physical Stats

Considering Chuck Norris is/was a professional fighter. There should be a listing of his physical stats. Height, weight etc. Chuck Norris as simply an actor i understand why they may or may not be listed. But considering he began and was primarily a professional fight... these shats should be listed.

I'm not talking about now, just during his fight career.

Junior?

With a few web searches I couldn't turn up any reference to his birth name including a Jr. that seemed to be independent of and more reliable than Wikipedia. Also, in his autobiography [2] he says his father's name is Ray, and the genealogy link [3] someone has in this discussion page says it's Ray D. Norris. Also, his father being Carlos and he being Jr. is inconsistent with him being named after his minister, which he also says in his autobiography. So I changed it. Also, both the cited NYT article and his book spell his brother's name Wieland. Zander (talk) 01:16, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Family man quote is too strong

Under Personal Life, after detailing how he had a child out of wedlock the following quote shows up:

"Norris has always been a very loving family man"

Which uses a People magazine article of him hugging his adult sons as evidence.

This seems to be pretty weak evidence for this assertion.

Fisrt, please use the four tilde thing ~~~~ to sign your posts. It's easier to refer to someone when there's a someone to refer to. Second, I'm not sure what is the problem. Are you saying that having children out of wedlock demeans the "family man" comment? Or that hugging his son is not enough proof? I'm not sure the picture is there to provide proof for the statement (that would be OR and should be eliminated if that's the case). If you don't believe the statement then place a {{fact}} tag on it and see what turns up. If you could explain more clearly what the problem is maybe I could help further. padillaH (review me)(help me) 18:41, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Fight record

I've deleted the last 2 item from Norris' fight record. I can found no evidence that chuck norris ate a man they occurred. How tall?

Officially he's 5'11" but in fact he's more like 5'10" from what I could tell. Smells of a shite! His height is an issue because he's an inspiration for tiny little cute guys everywhere. They can live the life of massive impressive physical speciments if they can actually get away with it. Perhaps there should be an entry on people whose vision prevents them from correctly judging people's heights or reading a measuring tape. --Megaforcemedia (talk) 15:10, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

No he's really 5'11", and so was Rocky Marciano, so it's officially the bad-assest height there is.

Phrasing

In the Political Views section: "Chuck Norris supports gun rights and ownership, and is against public schools condoning homosexuality." This last part (bolded) is bizarrely-phrased and not particularly note-worthy or useful. Perhaps his opposition to homosexuality would be more appropriate here - "aberrant sexual behavior" ([http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=59697]). ~~

Could you also edit out "the" in the section on Norris sending a letter to Obama not to follow other presidents. It seems to indicate all other presidents supported the pro-abortion stance of Clinton and Obama. This is not the case. It would make it more clear to state "other democratic Presidents" as all republican Presidents have not supported the public financing of abortions since Roe. notoadultery 20:14, 22 February 2009 (UTC) Here's a cite:

“In what could be the most egregious misuse of his Chuck Norris powers” since he endorsed Mike Huckabee, said Edward Ericson Jr. in the Baltimore City Paper, the martial artist and TV star suggested that Texas was ripe to secede from the union, that he ‘may run for President’ of the Republic of Texas, and that there are thousands of “right-wing ‘cells’” ready to follow radio host Glen Beck’s marching orders. The need to secede “may be a reality sooner than we think,” said Chuck Norris in Townhall. My president-of-Texas quip was tongue-in-cheek, but the idea behind it isn’t. Washington is “moving farther and farther from its Founders’ vision and government,” and the people won’t stand for it. And Texas—it’s own republic from 1836 to 1846—is the logical place to make a stand.

Interesting family tree

According to this article, Chuck have a very interesting family tree.

"Norris paternal grandfather (an immigrant) and maternal grandmother were of Irish descent, while his paternal grandmother and maternal grandfather were Cherokee Native Americans."

What are the odds that both his paternal and maternal grandparents are made up of one Irish and one Cherokee in perfect symmetry. :)

creation/evolution

The article states that Norris believes in creation. It is therefore unnecessary, IMHO, to state that he doesn't believe in evolution. It is also incorrect to say that he "subscribes to Intelligent Design". Adherents of ID are not creationists. The difference is that creationists recognise that God created everything. IDists recognise that the theory of Evolution is a hoax but do not ascribe the design to God, merely a "higher intelligence". Silver Shiney (talk) 10:52, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

  • You're right and wrong. You're correct that there is no need to point out that he doesn't believe in evolution. But "IDists" do not have a singular interpretation across the board. Some who support teaching ID do believe in God, others do not. There is no bright line. Further, we go with what the sources show, not how we interpret the belief system. Niteshift36 (talk) 13:21, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
"Some who support teaching ID do believe in God" - yes, these are called Creationists. Those who don't believe in God are not. The dividing line is very bright, and has nothing to do with interpreting belief systems. Perhaps you need to cite accurate sources ;-) Silver Shiney (talk) 12:43, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

C'mon... did Chuck Norris serve in the Korean War as a 13-year-old?

According to this very article, Chuck Norris is 70 years old, and yet it also states that: "His time with the U.S. Veterans Administration as a spokesperson, was inspired by his experience serving the United States Air Force in the Korean War." (emphasis mine)

So, what, are we to believe that Mr. Norris was the youngest soldier ever to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces?

Also, according to the article itself, Chuck Norris joined the Air Force in 1958; hostilities in Korea ceased in 1953.

I think it is safe to say that Chuck Norris did not serve during the Korean War.

Umm, no. His birthday as clearly stated by IMDB is the 10th of March. But right now it's listed wrongly.

Presumably this is about a joke that's suddenly become popular that says, "Chuck Norris was born May 6,1945. The Nazis surrendered May 7, 1945. Coincidence? I think not." There are many websites referring to both Norris's 69th and 70th birthdays on March 10 so I'm pretty sure the joke is nonsense, but it would be good to have a proper source his birthdate. Political views/proposition 8

The link to reference 42 is incorrect. This one is correct: http://townhall.com/columnists/chucknorris/2008/11/18/if_democracy_doesnt_work,_try_anarchy/page/full/

Also, the sentence below states that Norris chided the gay community in the above article: "On November 18, 2008, Norris became one of the first members of show business to express support for the California Proposition 8 ban on same-sex marriage, and he chided the gay community for "interfering" with the democratic process and the double standard he perceived in criticizing the LDS Church without criticizing African Americans, who had voted for the measure by a wide margin.[42]"

It is clear from Norris' article that he is NOT chiding the gay community whatsoever. He is chiding "protestors of Proposition 8 in California"/"the pro-gay community", in particular those people who threatened or physically harmed pro-Prop 8 people. Ahenobarbus (talk) 09:50, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Under "Early life" the statement "Other children taunted him about his mixed ethnicity, and Norris daydreamed about beating up his tormentors." needs a corroborating outside source, or else should be preceded by "According to Norris". There is little to suggest from the information available that anyone would assume from his name or his physical appearance that he was of mixed ethnicity; from this entry the only evidence offered is "Norris has said that he has Irish and Cherokee Native American ancestry.[2][6]" On the other hand there is much to suggest from his conservative politics that he might try to use such a statement to deflect charges of racism in his views on minorities. G.jexter (talk) 06:52, 21 January 2012 (UTC)g.jexterG.jexter (talk) 06:52, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Apparently you've never read his autobiography. Published before he ever became politically active, he said similar things in it. Niteshift36 (talk) 17:14, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

I think you've missed the point here: such statements need to be referenced. It could be external verification, e.g. "Childhood friends recount Norris being taunted about his mixed ethnicity,..." with a citation to material that a biographer may have discovered in interviews of old acquaintances of Norris. If the statement comes from Norris himself, then it should say "In his autobiography, Norris states that other children taunted him about his his mixed ethnicity,...", followed by a citation referencing either his earlier 1987 autobiography The Secret of Inner Strength; My Story or his later post 9/11 autobiography published in 2004, Against All Odds: My Story. At the very least, the unaltered statement in question should be followed by the appropriate citation. The point is to provide the most complete and accurate information possible. G.jexter (talk) 19:24, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Then if that is your point, why are you talking about "On the other hand there is much to suggest from his conservative politics that he might try to use such a statement to deflect charges of racism in his views on minorities"? That smells like purely your opinion and it is disproven by the fact that he was writing the same thing back in 1988. Niteshift36 (talk) 19:42, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

It is my opinion, formed in part because the statement wasn't sourced and which allowed me to use my imagination and think the worst. If I had initially read that this was a statement from his autobiography published in 1987 (not 1988), I'd like to think I would have formed a less cynical opinion. By supplying that information, you get a clearer and more complete picture of who Chuck Norris is. Do you get it now?

I thank you for telling me where the statement came from, but I'm still not sure why you seem to be against this; I never suggested adding my opinion to the Wiki page. G.jexter (talk) 23:09, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Now you want to quibble about dates? The hardcover was in Dec. 1987 while the paperback was in Feb 1989. Saying 1988 splits the difference. You muddied the waters with the statement I quoted (and the pointing out that his second book was "post 9/11", as if that mattered). Had you not put that (those) in there, you would have looked more objective and less agenda seeking. Niteshift36 (talk) 00:32, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Niteshift36, I freely admit that I don't love Chuck Norris, but like many people his politics was affected by the the attacks of 9/11. I don't agree with some of the things he's said since he's been more vocal in expressing his opinions, but does that mean I'm trying to sabotage his Wikipedia entry? You've already changed my mind by informing me that he wrote this pre-9/11 yet you seem unwilling to share this fact with anyone else. I don't get it. Also too: go ahead and call it quibbling if you want, but if a book's first printing is in 1987, then you cite 1987. It doesn't matter that the paperback came out in 1989, or the comic book version came out in 1993, or the interpretive dance version debuted on Broadway in 1995 - THE BOOK WAS PUBLISHED IN 1987. It's just a fact. You don't ever "split the difference." G.jexter (talk) 02:49, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Yes, it is quibbling. My first edition copy of the book has a 1988 copyright. And here is a picture of the page:[5] The 1988 copyright is a FACT. So go tell the publisher how it was 1987 and that they are wrong too. This isn't about "loving" Chuck Norris. This is about you coming up with some hypothesis on you own, trying to act like there was validity to it and then, when it is refuted, trying to divert the discussion. Had you read the book, you'd know that Norris talked about being picked on and different because he was one of the few that wasn't pure Indian in his school. He was different because he had light hair and light skin. I suspect you made the incorrect assumption that he was trying to claim some sort of "minority" status that he wasn't part of, without thinking that his "minority" was being "the white kid". That's in the first chapter......of the 1988 version. Niteshift36 (talk) 03:51, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
Niteshift36, that you're trying to correct G.jexter over him pointing out that the book was published in 1987 with the honestly ridiculous argument that it "splits the difference" before doing a 180 and claiming that the first edition was from 1988 makes me think you need to read WP:BITE and quit arguing just to argue. While you may disagree with his views, he is on point that we should attribute statements in this article. Those who want to question Norris will do so regardless, but those who accept his word will accept those statements more than outside biographers, and both groups will be able to make informed decisions on how to judge when we properly attribute.
Looking at the article, that section is not properly sourced. The paragraph in question lacks any citation after the first sentence. In other words, it is not supported by any source right now (if you decide to help, please be sure to include the page number, I'm seeing a lot of citations without page numbers, which is almost pointless), and I could argue that under WP:BLP, we should remove the statement.
Also, Amazon says the first edition was published in 1987, as does Goodreads, as does this newspaper. Per WP:V, if we have to give a date for the book, it's 1987. Ian.thomson (talk) 04:09, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
  • I have the first edition. I took a picture of the copyyright page of the first edition. Since I am the one who entered the book as a ref in the first place, I know which one was used. It was 1988. The copyright is 1988. That is fact. Period. I made the off handed split the difference comment while I was away from home. Once I got home and checked my copy, I affirmed that I had correctly entered 1988 (the copyright date for the FIRST EDITION) when I put the source in. I reverted your change. I am holding the book in my hand, can read and am using it as the source material for the entry. The publisher is a WP:RS for when they copyrighted their own book.
Your comment about needing to ad page numbers is just being dickish. Show me any book source that I've added that I did not include a page number. Anywhere on Wikipedia.Niteshift36 (talk) 15:58, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Niiteshift36, I'm not fighting with you! Listen to yourself: "Had you read the book, you'd know that Norris talked about being picked on and different because he was one of the few that wasn't pure Indian in his school. He was different because he had light hair and light skin. I suspect you made the incorrect assumption that he was trying to claim some sort of "minority" status that he wasn't part of, without thinking that his "minority" was being "the white kid". That's in the first chapter......of the 1988 version."

The point of Wikipedia is to assume I haven't read the book. You have the book in your hands. You're giving me a more complete picture of who Chuck Norris is. I believe you. You're right that I assumed he was being picked on for being Cherokee, not for being white. And I made those assumptions BECAUSE THE WIKI PAGE IS MISSING THOSE DETAILS! Say it's from the 1988 printing of the book if you think you need to make that distinction (and call me an asshole here if it makes you feel better), but please, just put those details in the wiki page and say where they came from! G.jexter (talk) 08:31, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

  • It came from the first edition which was copyrighted in 1988. That is it the first edition and that it was copyrighted in 1988 has been in the source citation for a long time. I posted the picture of it for you. At this point, you are either going to have to say that the publisher got it wrong or that I manipulated the photo. Niteshift36 (talk) 15:58, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
Well, I'm going to WQA. Also, you only provided page numbers for the birthday. Look at any other good article, written by competent editors, and you'll see that (in line with works which hope to have any respect from the academic community), new information is cited to the section of the book it comes from.
The entire paragraph in question lacks a citation after the first line, which is not the book in question but a newspaper article that does not support anything beyond the first sentence. Is that information really all covered in just page 6 of the book? That book is not being used to properly cite anything except for the birthday, and that's it. Ian.thomson (talk) 16:45, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
  • I only used the page number for the birthdate? Um, yeah........that's the only time I have added the book as a citation. If someone else used the book for something else and didn't add a page number, that isn't my problem. I added the book as a source for TWO uses, both being the birthdate. Don't blame other people's errors on me. If you have a diff showing my use of the book as a source and failing to use the page number, produce it. Otherwise, you can apologize. Niteshift36 (talk) 19:44, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
  • When you search by ISBN, Google books lists the book as 1988 [6], as does World Cat [7], Ottobib [8], Open Library [9] (which interstingly states clearly "first published in 1988). Since these are all tools provided by Wikipedia on the page about using book sources, I'd say it is safe to say that they have passed WP:RS. Niteshift36 (talk) 20:28, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

It appears the birth details are incorrect. It currently states "born May 06, 1945" and should be changed to "born March 10, 1940". If you check the source cited you can see it does not match the citation ("IMDb". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001569/). This wrong information is found in two places in the article - the introduction and the quick facts to the right.

Chuck Norris against gays to be Scouts

Croatian writer Giancarlo Kravar: The most famous Texas Ranger Chuck Norris (72) is against it to change the old rule of Scouts in the U.S. and that its members can become homosexuals. The website AmmoLand.com Chuck Norris wrote that "homosexuals have no business in the Association of Scouts of America and that it would be shameful and anti-American", because "scouts symbolize the best of America." Where are you going to America, Chuck Norris needs to defend the core values of young Americans? 78.2.56.50 (talk) 23:57, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

First Tae Kwon Do 8th dan statement

I've corrected this statement per the first citation in the section from 1997 to 1990:

"In 1990 I was honored with another milestone by being the first man ever in the Western Hemisphere to be awarded an 8th degree Black Belt Grand Master recognition in the Tae Kwon Do system."

I've also removed the statement that Sell and Sereff achieved theirs first:

Edward B. Sell: 1991 - 8th Degree Black Belt certified by the World Taekwondo Federation (Kukkiwon).

C.E. Sereff: It takes 30 years to achieve the distinction of 8th Dan Black Belt. Master C.E. "Chuck" Sereff reached this goal in 1990, a few years short of his 60th birthday.

Catfish Jim and the soapdish 09:57, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

GM Sells received 8th dan in Chung Do Kwan, a system of TKD which was one of the original "kwans" or "schools" of TKD in 1987.

Furthermore, it is interesting how the date has changed in Chuck Norris's biography. In earlier versions it was claimed he was awarded the 8th Dan in 1997, both on his (now amended) website and this one, run by his friend Bob Wall http://www.worldblackbelt.com/Founding_Members/Norris_Chuck.asp (83.16.188.58 (talk) 08:42, 10 August 2012 (UTC))

I contacted Bob Wall, who runs the site, and he says Chuck Norris received 8th dans from 2 different associations; one in 1990 and one in 1997. The latter was ITF. I assume that General Choi, who considered himself the founder of TKD, would never have recognised a non-ITF grade (such as WTF), so Charles Sereff would have been the first from an ITF point of view. The question is, whether Chuck received his before Mr Sereff (as I assume Kukkiwon wouldn't acknowledge an ITF grade either) (79.190.69.141 (talk) 09:35, 11 August 2012 (UTC))

it may have the appearance of advertising, it may actually be paid PR, but that doesn't mean it doesn't belong. the standard would be whether columnists' syndicators are generally listed the way that columnists' newspapers are, for instance; are there other listings of syndication that should be removed? Nobody probably calls all the "writes column for the NY Times" references to be advertising, thought for all we know, NY Times PR firms are keeping it all up to date. Seems there should be different standard than the one you are citing. Edit request

Under "his politics", the sentence that says he is "against public schools protecting LGBT students from bullying through anti-bullying policies, and is opposed to LGBT rights in general" is not supported by the article that is the cited reference. That article does not mention bullying at all, and his quoted phrasing is that he is against schools promoting homosexuality. Just seems that it's simpler just to say what the article says than to turn it into an interpretation, or if there is any interpreting to be done it would be to "de-interpret" his interpretation, for example perhaps he "joined the call to label a Day of Silence as pro gay" if it perhaps was something else. He also points out in the article a barbaric punishment for sexual deviance that he claims Thomas Jefferson advocated... does the Thomas Jefferson article contain this information? it seems a more interesting fact overall, but part of a different agenda than the one apparent in the wiki article.

Also the opening sentence of that section that he advocates what the Republican party advocates is pretty lame; is a similar phrase added to every article about every political partisan? 96.224.32.111 (talk) 21:25, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

I'll second this; I read through the article cited as well and there's nothing there to remotely support the claim that he's against any anti-bullying efforts. Plus, the way its phrased is clearly not a neutral voice, its written as to make him sound villainous. It should be rewritten more encyclopedically, or at least marked with "needs citation" for the anti-bullying claim.

I actually have two requests for this article. First, since the article mentions that Norris has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, it seems appropriate to add him to the "American practitioners of Brazilian jiu-jitsu" category. Also, I would like to suggest removing Norris form the "American libertarians" category; nowhere does the article explicitly mention him as a libertarian, and I think most would agree that he is conservative. I'd like to point out that I keep coming across "Chuck Norris Mode" in software development and think it's worth a small mention:

What is Chuck Norris mode? When shall I use it? Chuck Norris mode uses system's built in kill command to terminate the selected application. This is an aggressive way to close running applications, and lets you kill **any** running app. Including dialer and system which can lead to a quick system restart. Use this only if you know what you are doing.

as this shows how the Rambo character predates the Chuck Norris film. The link to Rambo 1985 film fails to make that clear. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.73.228.23 (talk) 15:23, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Shouldn't we mention that he did have a part in the Expendables 2? Since it was his most recent role in a movie? Trooper 902 (talk) 14:50, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I feel that this page could a little more detail to Chuck's film career as it is relatively short compared to other actor pages on Wikipedia...just a suggestion. I can help with that, however, I realize that the page is semi-protected. Trooper 902 (talk) 05:55, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

  • I think the acting career section could look a bit more like this...

Chuck Norris made his film debut in the 1968 film The Wrecking Crew. However, Norris made more of an impact on movie-goers in Return of the Dragon (1973). The film’s highlight was the fight scene between Norris and martial arts action star Bruce Lee. Chuck Norris earned his first starring role in the film Breaker! Breaker! (1977). Norris box office ratings increased with subsequent films such as The Octagon (1980), An Eye for an Eye (1981), and Lone Wolf McQuade (1983).

Norris reached his professional apex in Missing in Action (1984) where Norris played Colonel James Braddock, a former prisoner of war who returns to Vietnam to free other soldiers still being held. He did this film and its sequels, Missing in Action II-the Beginning (1985) and Braddock: Missing in Action III (1988), as a tribute to his younger brother Wieland who dies in combat in Vietnam. Norris received good reviews for the film Code of Silence (1985), teamed up with the legendary action star Lee Marvin for the action film The Delta Force (1986), and even lent his name and voice to a brief TV cartoon series titled Chuck Norris’ Karate Kommandos.

By the 1990’s Cannon Films were no longer prominent and Norris’ movie appeal had seemed to fade. Delta Force II: Operation Stranglehold (1990) failed to assist Norris’ appeal. Norris was in his forties and was receiving heavy competition from younger actors muscling in on action movie roles. Keeping this in mind, Norris took on roles such as the mean blood-thirsty character in Hitman (1991), to playing himself as a coach to a young fan in Sidekicks (1993). None of these films improved his reputation, so Norris decided that perhaps television was the answer.

In 2003 Chuck Norris returned to films once more, often with his brother Aaron directing him. He had starring roles in films such as Bells of Innocence (2003), The Cutter (2005), and The Contender (2005). In 2012 he joined the cast of The Expendables 2, teaming up with other masters of 80s action films such as Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and Willis.

Also, Chuck Norris is, in fact. immortal and does not bleed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.245.136.183 (talk) 23:14, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

First western 8th dan TKD?

There seems to be several discrepancies in Chuck Norris's claim to be the first Western 8th Dan in TKD. Bob Wall and Chuck Norris received 8th Dan grades from General Choi Hong Hi of the ITF, however, Bob Wall's own website refers to the date as being 1997 ( http://www.worldblackbelt.com/who-s-who/founding-members/5-chuck-norris ). Furthermore, Bob Wall's website also has an entry for GM Charles Sereff who graded 8th Dan ITF in 1989 (http://www.worldblackbelt.com/who-s-who/living-legends/156-charles-sereff) and later becoming the first western 9th dan in 1997. Career as a Conspiracy Theorist

Maybe a section could be inserted about Chuck Norris's political activism against Geoengineering. Quote:

"The most colossal and tragic of all government cover-ups is the fact that the feds have been waging climate warfare for more than 30 years, lacing our clouds and stratosphere with dangerous nano-particles, including environmental sulfates, black carbon, metallic aluminum and aluminum oxide aerosols. The truth is, for decades, the feds have been covertly and overtly running sky criminal operations behind (above!) our backs, leaving humans and the rest of the planet life as lab rats of their toxic cocktail fallout.

[...]

That is why my wife, Gena, and I encourage citizens everywhere to do their own research on geo-engineering and then write their government representatives to demand action."

--BjKa (talk) 09:55, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

And a bit further down, on the same page Gena Norris says:

"I become very physically ill when they spray and don't start feeling better until the skies clear us. I'm having to detox constantly. This assault on our planet and humanity is vile and completely criminal to say the least. My husband and I have a very large following and will continue to raise awareness as often as we can."
