Motor type[edit]

The motor type is currently given in the infobox as Bombardier MITRAC DR 3800, with a rating of 1600 kW. That needs a source for multiple reasons. First, checking Bombardier's motors page, maximum output of the DR 3800 is put at 1.5 MW only. Second, the same source distinguishes MITRAC DR 3800 N (axle-hung version) and MITRAC DR 3800 F (hollow shaft version) -- although it is likely to be the N type, this should be ascertained. Third, if I read the sources right, Bombardier supplies only part of the motors directly, thus the Chinese partners might have given a name to the license-built version, which should then also be named. --Rontombontom (talk) 18:10, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thick walls[edit]

The article say that the thick walls of IORE is feature to make it handle the harsh weather. This implies that "thick walls" mean "extra insulation". But the "thick walls" of IORE where to make the locomotive heavier, to give it more adhesion. (The load per axle on IORE is 30 tonnes, way more then HXD3B's 25 tonnes. This translates to a maximum tractive effort of 700 kN for a half-IORE and 570 kN for a HXD3B.) And anyway, this with "thick walls" is not in the source.
