Fair use rationale for Image:ChihiroOnitsuka.jpg[edit]

Image:ChihiroOnitsuka.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Removed unattributed trivia item[edit]

I removed an item in the trivia section referring to a serious incident in Onitsuka's life which purportedly happened in 2004. Since it had no references or attribution, there was no indication that it was anything other than rumor.
If it were a genuinely trivial item, I wouldn't have removed it; the incident in question, however, is very far from trivial. It's not the kind of thing that should be in a wiki entry without some kind of documentation or attribution -- and even then, it wouldn't really belong in a list of trivia items, unless Onitsuka herself had discussed it publicly and made light of it.
As it is, it looks like just another rumor from some Jpop forum -- and as such, it could easily be fan fiction disguised as fact. I believe that in this case, the following restriction does apply:

Controversial material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous.

This is a pet peeve of mine, but if the incident is what I think it is, it is fully documented to sources, albeit in Japanese, on the Japanese Wikipedia page. This always happens with Japanese topics: if the subject of an article is rather obscure in English speaking countries, of course there is not going to be English language sourcing. That's only natural. But since Wikipedia itself, in its Japanese version, has adequate sourcing, why isn't that enough? 122.25.150.19 (talk) 03:28, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming you know Japanese, as you seem to, I suggest adding a cite to the same Japanese-language sources that ja:鬼束ちひろ uses, including a quote of the Japanese-language sentence that supports the statement, with your translation into English. NPOV tone[edit]

I just removed a ton of flowery language, speculation, and unsourced statements that didn't add anything substantive to this article. I know people like this artist - I like her, too - but this is supposed to be an online encyclopedia. This isn't Zomg Kekeke Chihiro Onitsuka #1 Fan Site. Please keep colorful suppositions to those sites and [try to] only use facts here. There are still large swathes of text that are not sourced, but I feel removing them as a whole would be detrimental rather than beneficial to the quality of the article. If people can find legitimate, reputable sources for this information, please include it. Otherwise, rewrite it in such a way in that it only covers facts and not things like how Chihiro gained confidence towards the end of high school. ～藍子talk contrib 10:58, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

3 malfunctioning URLs[edit]

There are three malfunctioning URLs in this article. I've had a look at them, but having forgotten nearly all of the Japanese I learned almost 30 years ago, I'd rather not tamper with them.
