Etymology[edit]

What is the origin of this place name? Badagnani (talk) 17:50, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find a source that I really trust. This is probably the best, and gives it as "from the Native American word for converging bodies of water". If correct in identifying it as from a Native American tongue, it would be one of the Eastern Algonquian languages, most likely the Eastern Abnaki languages subgroup as a source. Thanks! Well, Suncook, New Hampshire is Algonquian so I guess I can go ahead and add the "Algonquian toponyms" cat. Badagnani (talk) 19:28, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
